Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

I don't like that it's: 3 points for a 1st place vote, 2 for a 2nd, 1 for a 3rd.
Makes too much depend on 2nd place votes
If you're voting for the best at anything, it should be: 5 points for a 1st place, 3 for an 2nd, 1 for a 3rd.

I won't defend that much - just my feeling.
Present system makes the 2nd and 3d place votes disproportionately important
This was the closest race in 15 years. It shouldn't have been.

I have to admit being a little befuddled how Lil' Wayne of all people ended up at Travis's Heisman ceremony. Not begrudging anyone, just amused.

I'm very glad for Travis, for Prime, for CU and the fans, for college football that Travis won the Heisman. If the Heisman is anything about the best player in college football for that year there was no other choice.

What most of the country doesn't know, and should, is that win or lose come Monday morning Travis Hunter is going to wake up the same guy. He isn't going to work any less, isn't going to believe he is any better, isn't going to think he is somehow special compared to his teammates. How somebody who has done what he has done and is going to do the things he will still do can be described as humble and grounded I don't know but Travis Hunter is.

I've said the same thing about Evan Battey but it applies just as much to Travis Hunter. If somehow he woke up tomorrow without his athletic skills, if a career in athletics were not a possibility is isn't a question of if he would be successful, only where he would channel that success. Who he is as a person makes him special, we are fortunate to see it because he is able to use it in a spectator sport.

The importance of the Heisman for Colorado cannot be understated.

I believe it is second only to a National Championship in adding prestige for a football program.

Prime and Hunter have cemented themselves as legends in Colorado football lore.

And I think we may just be getting started.

Gotta be a massive recruiting factor.

I hope this leads to more two way players in college football and the NFL. They did it in the past and can do it again.
