Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

Here's the thing driving me crazy about the Heisman conversation right now:

Trav supporters are just talking about how good he is and acknowledging that Jeanty is a great RB. Jeanty supporters want to trash Trav. It's ****ed up and driven in large part, IMO, by the folks that don't like Prime.

There’s definitely a segment of our society who does not like anything related to Prime or vocal (AKA “non humble”) Black people.

It seems like Hunter is a lock for the Heisman. But … is there a world where he gets snubbed? Like how ‘clean’ is this electorate?

I wouldn’t be surprised. I haven’t seen much to convince me things are fair or above board. Particularly when media and special interests are involved

I’d hang the banner anyway + a big f*** you guys banner

I usually pay more attention to the Wooden Award in basketball and last year the hype for Edey was so overblown it was nauseating. (There was no way IMO that he was the best college player, I would have gone Shead, Davis, or Knecht, but that's another discussion for another day). But what I realized was that Purdue was out front promoting Edey all the time and the media was running with it constantly. To most people that only casually follow college basketball they probably never heard of Jamal Shead nor have any idea what team he played on last year. And I guess that's the whole point.

To that end, I have to give CU and the SID a lot of credit for what they've done this year. I was worried at the start of the year (although I probably shouldn't have been since Prime is here) that CU wouldn't promote Hunter enough for his Heisman campaign. They've done a stellar of job promoting him and getting him spots on College Gameday, Big Noon, and written pieces, etc., almost to the point that I bet if you ask casual observers of college football who should win the Heisman they'll only be able to give you Hunter's name.
I actually still don't know how to pronounce Ashton Jeanty. :p JOHN-tee? John-TAY? JEN-tee?

ETA: watched some videos. I guess it's JEN-tee.

Most general polls have Jeanty ahead, fwiw. I do think we need to all root heavily against him and Boise state this Friday. The only thing he really can argue is Boise is in the conf champ game and possibly the playoff.

This Friday we are all UNLV fans

What general polls?
ESPN/twitter polls etc (we’re talking large scale like 10k votes)

That’s the general public and all that matters is the sportswriters who are doing the voting. Travis being off this weekend hurts him, no matter how you slice it. Hopefully his lead is big enough it won’t matter. I want him to win it so bad

Oh yeah, I expect the worst
