We now take you to Ann Arbor Michigan

My main takeaway away from this whole thing is that it really drives home how much major CFB needs a strong governing body empowered and structured like the pro leagues.

NFL punishment for the Patriots from spygate was so severe, they only went 5 more Super Bowls and only won 3

What should happen and what will happen are far apart.

Every indication is that the B1G should take action, the evidence is there.

They very likely though won't take action until after the money is counted the season is over

A 3-game suspension is very light if true, but not unexpected. Michigan probably should have been banned from the BIG championship and postseason play this year if you really want to prevent this sort of cheating in the future. As it is, every Michigan accomplishment this year has been, and will be, tainted. But judging from the reactions of Michigan fans, players, and coaches, they don't care. Goody for them.

Would be shocked if Harbaugh misses any games this season. B1G gets to look like they’re doing something and UMich gets their conference/natty opportunity. All decisions get pushed to the offseason. Maybe he misses the first 2-3 games next season, maybe he takes an NFL job. Either way, Harbaugh appears to get off mostly unscathed.

He’s had a good fall. Lawn mowed. Leaves raked. Chain gang duty at local HS games. Helping wife with groceries.

So they just magically had this employee of the program (Stalion) who knew what the other teams signs meant allowing them to adjust to them but Harbaugh didn't know anything about it? And they did it multiple games but they claim that they got no competitive advantage from it?

The more they respond the more ridiculous they sound but the B1G, in a similar fashion to the member institutions that comprise it is going to do everything possible to protect the image of their top revenue value programs.

After Sandusky, Nasser, Jim Jordan, and others what Harbaugh has done is minor.

Only thing I can think of is that maybe the B1G didn't include the championship game because that prevents Harbaugh coaching during their appeal - if he did, the conference could vacate those wins and bar the team from the championship even if they won them.

They were clear about regular season games. They’re not going to add a suspension for the conference title game. They don’t actually want him to be suspended. This is all for appearances.

Correct.

They want to do the minimum necessary to be able to claim they are addressing the situation without actually addressing the situation.

Here’s how we know that the B1G DGAF about this matter: they would have suspended Harbaugh indefinitely from coaching in all B1G sanctioned football games if they wanted to actually lay down the law. They would have anticipated the appeal process dragging out and included the championship game/all future conference games for next year.

B1G really doesn't want this heat and would much rather wait & then work with Michigan on its appeal to the NCAA. But they had 13 other members demanding that the conference do something immediately since the NCAA process takes forever.
