What should be the plan at QB & who is the starter this week?

I retract my statement about him not giving us a better chance to win - I think just about any serviceable P4 QB would help get this team over the hump and win some of these games playing PG. We just don't know what conversations are happening w.r.t his RS, the school no longer has leverage with transfer rules. Or maybe the practice film is just really bad?
Then based on your comment here you should be backing Lewis to be the starter because neither Salter or Staub are serviceable P4 QBs

I've been hard on this coaching staff this year but they have done a pretty good job game planning for Salter the past three weeks.

For that, I think they give Salter one more week and it makes sense to then move on with a bye week to get JuJu ready for the second half of the season. Salter is so lost and you can't deny what transpired in that TCU game.

hard to say what's going on here. maybe team juju has a deal with prime to redshirt this year, so we won't see him until the last 3 games. also hard to say if coming out early or staying in hs would have been the better option, you could argue both. hope he doesn't have a rs deal with prime and starts this week.

If there was some kind of deal in place for him to RS, I don’t think Juju gets thrown in for two series vs Delaware.

This is some serious revisionist history. After being the consensus #1 as a sophomore, he threw for 700 more yards as a junior, while increasing his completion percentage from 66.4% to 75.6%. From wiki...

Nothing explains the drop better than decommitting from USC and committing to Colorado.

...except he dropped in recruiting rankings while committed to USC.

Lewis' recruiting fall happened WHILE HE WAS COMMITTED TO USC.

I don't do rage bait.

You’re right, but as I mentioned Juju flipping to CU was one of the biggest open secrets in recruiting, which is why Riley started pivoting to Longstreet before Juju had officially announced his decommitment.

Industry knew Juju was flipping and downgraded accordingly.

I understand the point, but Georgia and Indiana were in on him too --- so it's hard to say that he was downgraded because they knew he was going to CU. Almost every CU fan I knew was nervous about him going to Georgia over CU.

The CU fans you knew didn’t have a clue then. He was never going to Georgia. Indiana was a little bit of a threat because of their QB coach, but he was mostly a CU lock for a while from program insiders… literally months.

Rated a 98 (#16) prior to June visit. Sink introduces Precision Pass Burger on 6/21. Drops to a 94 and #46 two weeks later on 7/10.
It's either the Sink Burger or his showing in the Elite 11 camp.

"Lewis, who reclassified from the 2026 cycle, was rated the No. 16 overall prospect and the No. 3 quarterback with a 98 rating. Now Lewis is rated the No. 46 overall prospect and the No. 7 quarterback. His rating also fell to 94. The fall comes after Lewis competed in the Elite 11 competition last month, finishing No. 7 in the final 247Sports QB rankings...."

I'm just saying it's not always a conspiracy.
No one said conspiracy but recruiting services absolutely cater to the big brands in the sport whose fans subscribe to their sites. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy in a way. They are literally incentivized to ensure recruits who are being recruited by Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, etc have elite ratings

True but Lewis finishing 7th at the Elite 11 Finals is why I think he dropped.

Now that we've seen how Salter plays after he's beyond those first couple series that have been choreographed and drilled all week, I better appreciate why he was pulled in that Delaware game despite the opening scoring drives. We were at real risk of going into halftime tied and potentially losing the game.

Nonsense. He didn't finish 7th. That was one 247 writer's opinion (Andrew Ivins). To my knowledge, the Elite 11 names an MVP. That's it. They don't rank the quarterbacks. JuJu scored a perfect score of 50 on the Pro Day workout, which was the highest of any competitor. You're only digging deeper.

HiS ELiTe 11 pERfoRManCe tAnKEd hiS sToCK.

Meanwhile, over at ESPN...

This aint it.

There are lots of folks that watch the Elite 11 that are scouts. 247, On3, Rivals, etc. I haven't seen any of them --- ANY -- that put Lewis as a top 3-4 overall performers at the camp (I know you think he should be ranked #1 or #2 but even after "falling" he's still ranked #6, which is pretty good and probably about right). For other rankings, see, https://www.on3.com/rivals/news/elite-11-finals-2024-overall-top-performers/ and https://mikefarrellsports.com/recruiting/elite-11-2024-a-comprehensive-recap-of-days-1-2-and-3/.

Now, did he "tank" as you say? Not really - he is still ranked the #6 QB in the class. He's just not an uber-talented Bryce Underwood type.

You cite the Pro Day workout, which is 1 drill during one day of Elite 11 as proof that he should be the top QB in the country. Come on, man. That's like saying the NFL should rank QBs based on which QB can hit the target riding on the back of a golf truck in an NFL Skills Challenge. I think an overall 3 day review/ranking is way better information.

I will agree with you that ESPN has been highest on JuJu for sure, but most experts in the recruiting world value ESPN's opinion the least because they have the fewest scouts and spend the least amount of $$$ on HS recruiting.

AND LAST, I'm cheering for JuJu. I hope he absolutely lights it up. I hope he's Bryce Young 2.0 or Drew Brees 3.0. I just don't think it's fair to him to put the "program savior" tag on him given that he's not a Vince Young or Trevor Lawrence or Bryce Underwood 5+ star type.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter if he was a 4* or 5* this is mostly semantics. He was a dominant high school QB in one of the most competitive and high level HS leagues in the country. A national recruit who was wanted as a first option by almost everybody, including one of the top QB coaches/OCs/HCs in the sport.

I acknowledge the idea that he’s not a can’t miss player in the same way Arch Manning wasn’t a can’t miss player. Or Cade Klubnick. Or Garrett Nussmeier. Or a number of other 5* guys who never lived up to the hype. Bryce Underwood may or may not end up as the prodigy he is touted as.

Point is, Juju has shown that he is as talented as any HS QB coming out last year or this upcoming year. Whether it translates into on field production and wins is up to him, Prime and the OC that Prime picks for him next year.
