Official Texas A&M Pregame / Game Thread

Are you saying before the game if I told you we would lead the whole game and lose 10-7 to the #5 team in the country, that you would have said that is unacceptable? I know I was curious what kind of team we really had, assumed you all were too. Now we know. A pretty good one that needs to get better on offense, but we knew that with a freshman QB
That’s not the #5 team in the country. We are better than expected but that team, especially sans King, is not a top 5 team.

WTF
Seriously, he was running over big SEC Defenders, he can throw the ball just fine
What he needs is a scheme that fits everything he is good at, and a better OL
He has stud Running Backs that take the pressure off him
He has stud Wide Receivers that he needs to take shots to and let the WR make the play
B Lew is our QB of the here and now, and the future for the next 3 years my friend

He can do what?

How we lost matters. Past issues that continue matter. Especially when a bunch of 35 year old dickheads on an internet forum can see them.

Not giving up on Lewis by any stretch, but you cannot make any declarative statements right now about him. I hope he gets it figured out quickly, but saying he is the QB for the next three years is way over the top.

Um no.

KD should have played Lewis all last season to get him experience so he would we ready for this year.

His recruiting will not be fixed, because he sucks at it.

Playing harder than the other team means **** if you lose.

Chiv sucks, and it should have been clear to KD and others well before KD that he sucks as an OC. He is only in the spot he is because he is a cockroach that survives the apocalypse around him.

Someone needs a hug.

Disagree. Give him a semblance of play calling. I was impressed today. They need to build on his read option ability from the 1H.

I hope he begins to show it soon then.
I totally agree with you, he needs to be allowed to take strategic shots down the field, especially to Rice and Montana
I have always felt that a good QB can take a shot that is either incomplete or can only be tracked down and caught by his guy
Seems like he is going through a phase of absolutely no interceptions, and it is time to move on from that

Arias catches that ball down they sideline and this is a different conversation

Possibly, but Montana and Rice deserve some designated jump balls, that is what you see USC doing cause there are a lot of long balls that are just won by the receiver and are not great QB throws. Arias has to hold onto that ball.

What the actual **** happened to the zone reads?
The QB was visibly shaken up on one of the hits he took in which he was dropped up on his shoulder.

I’d guess that probably played a factor. Especially, given the lack of QB depth.

Anyway, while it was a disappointing loss, I think there’s actually a lot to be encouraged by. The defense is much better than I’d expected.

And if not for the bogus OPI call that took a first down away or the freaking kicker missing a 41 yard fg, it could have been a different story.

And while Lewis is clearly a great athlete, he also obviously has a lot to learn about playing QB. From not recognizing obvious blitzes to deciding who he’s throwing to pre-snap and staring down his target the whole way.

Presumably, with more film study and live reps, he’ll have a better understanding of what defenses are doing and be more comfortable as the season goes on.

I haven't read any previous comments in this thread, been watching the game as I play in a golf tournament.
Initial comment Chev needs to go and right now! If he isn't going to recruit, and he cannot call anything other than a bubble screen and flare out, when there are talented WR's who get open downfield and over the middle (Lewis is obviously being told his progressions are outside) he needs to go. 3rd and 1 then 4th and 1 QB sneaks into the heart and skill of the defense is inexcusable, he lost the game right there. The rbs had good holes and gains on called cutbacks in the first half, then never calls them again. The incompetence is enormous. He is straight dumpster fire 🔥 as an OC and his behavior when KD was named coach showed his immaturity. This team can play with anybody if the OC is halfway decent - Chev is not.

Fair. So again, play calling. Get your athletes the ball
