That example is more about having a dynamic play caller, IMO, not whether a HC is a great gameday coach or not. Sure there are a few big decisions each game that a HC makes that go along with “gameday coach”, but I think he knows how to game plan, strategize, make in-game schematic adjustments, work the clock (for the most part) and just generally manage a game. He’s not special at it but he’s better than Tucker was/is.
I’d also say that from what I’ve read on other 247 boards (and just obviously from performance), the negative recruiting against Coach Meat was at an all time high following him at Arizona and that first year here. Blackmon, Gonzalez, and Bethel looking good in coverage hopefully alleviates that (lol).
Honestly, yesterday should be an EASY sell to recruits. Look at that top 5 recruiting team and how we hung close! We just need playmakers like you to get us over the top!

Another thing that hurts from the loss is the exposure that would have been given to the team for the win. Look at how Oregon beating tOSU was the top story no one could stop talking about. Now a win would have been second fiddle to this story, but it would have been the next headline people spoke about after Oregon-tOSU. Instead there were just quick blips of how A&M won in the final minutes.
These are both correct.
KD and staff have been very passive in what they do.
Even when they step out of the norm like going for it on fourth down they went conservative rather than trust a player to make a decision (run/pass or pick a hole on an outside run.)
In the second half they went away from anything that called on Lewis to make decisions including the RPO stuff that worked against the Aggie aggression on D.
Who are the young, lower ranked guys in the Secondary who have played much so far?

I didn’t get to watch until this morning.
terrible call not taking the three early in the game. Rushing seemed to be the hot hand in the first half. Just keep riding that horse! Bland play calling in the second half led to predictability. Where was Clayton and Broussard in the second half? If you’re going to call two straight sneaks, at-least put Stacks behind Lewis for the push.
not sure why Thomas was covering a key player on that TD? Nobody else was on that side from the look of it?
That offensive PI call was complete BS.
Chev needs a guy check. Start calling a good game, or GTFO. If he isn’t recruiting like he used to, then he is no use to the Buffs. That last drive was weird, four straight pass plays that were in front of the sticks?
Chris Wilson is a clear upgrade for DC.
I’m still happy with the game. Hanging with the no. 5 team with a good and experienced defense. Just sad that the fans from the Dr. Pepper Fansville got to celebrate in the end. Bring on the Gophers! Bring on the PAC12. The Buffs are due!!

Biggest play of the game for the defense, it’s clearly a passing situation and they call a defense that has Thomas with RB coverage responsibilities instead of pass rushing only. There has to be more situational awareness from Wilson and Coach Mike (and KD) to not allow that to happen. Barnes and Lamb HAVE to get more snaps, particularly against teams that want to throw to RBs and TEs, which is all A&M could do
I’m hopeful that CU outperforms and some of the ASU/UoA recruits that CU lost out on come to their senses and decide to flip when those programs flop (well, when ASU flops, UoA might go winless
KD said he was going to be aggressive every time. We should get used to it.
Two sneaks is not aggressive
I like this scheme and personnel. I wish he was a little more aggressive on pass rushes.
There’s a strategic decision at play there and a tactical one. Strategy was aggressive, tactically the play calls were not.
I don’t like the playcall but it’s not as crazy as people make it out to be. You are talking about a QB who was a stud power lifter in Texas with crazy squat and powerclean numbers. Putting him behind the strength of your line on the interior isn’t a bad plan but definitely could have been better, especially back to back
aTm covered both gaps and had MLB cocked and loaded.
Doesn’t matter you have three lineman and one of the strongest pound for pound quarterbacks in college football pushing them. Lots of experience at the three interior positions including I think the strongest player in the team with pursell.

It was an offensive pass interference call and it was a bad call. The receiver and db were hand fighting and when the receiver pushed the db, the ball had already been caught.
They brought in the former official and rules expert on the broadcast who said it shouldn’t have been called because of that.
Yes it matters. Purcell got smashed. At minimum you set to right or left in that situation. No all sneaks work no matter who you have. Yesterday’s got blown up.
It was 3rd and 1.
Two down strategy. I thought it strange but OK.
I don't know who made the call. I don't mind the 2 consecutive sneaks. The decision was probably made on 3rd that we were not going to settle for a FG. The way we were moving the ball, you would think we would be able to score with 4 downs from inside the 4. It just didn't work out. Maybe we need to practice that play more. Lewis did not seem selective with where he was going with it.
Bad call. Appeared to me that the ref screwed up by dialing in looking for a potential pick play, lost sight of the overall play, and threw the flag when he saw the full arm extension on the push - not aware the push was bang-bang after the catch.
If your best offensive player and your offensive identity is built around your RB, you've got to give him at least 1 of the 2 opportunities.
I don’t recall any of them getting meaningful snaps at CB this week. Highly recruited Gonzalez, JC transfer Blackmon and Miami transfer Bethel were the studs at CB yesterday
Again, you are talking about the outcome which is totally different than the input (strategy). Doing a QB sneak behind three of your better and more experienced players on the team and with one of the strongest quarterbacks in college football isn’t some crazy play call. Could and should we have done something different? Of course.
I didn't have a problem with the first QB sneak, the second one I did. They knew it was ****ing coming. I would've ran a naked boot or something the way they stacked the nose. ****, they only needed about a foot. Lewis might have very well walked into the end zone.
The issue is percentages here. Arias has shown us for 4 freakin’ years that he can’t catch. Yet he’s the go to now? Recruiting matters. Dude would be 3rd on the depth chart anywhere else.
