2018 College Football News

I wonder why. Is it because ESPN stopped employing McMurphy and don't want to promote a story he broke elsewhere? Or is it because they're interested in protecting their major investment in their college football property? Or maybe ESPN just sucks? Probably a combination.

Some observations...

Urb is total scum. Dude is a major cover-up artist. Note: he is catholic.

Since it is tOSU, there’s a reasonable possibility that he gets away with this one. Maybe the tOSU IT dept will manufacture an email from Urb to the AD which will absolve him. Or, maybe he just needs to suddenly retire for a year or two so he can spend more time with his family.

Am feeling a little awkward for having an overwhelming attraction to Courtney Smith’s strength while she describes her unwillingness to let her ex husband beat the **** out of her anymore.
What is the relevance of the bolded?

The issue is that Ohio State cannot reasonably provide cover here. He point blank said he had no knowledge of the 2015 incident. He cannot take that statement back.

Umm. The catholic church are pros at covering up deplorable ****.
Dude.

fwiw, the reason Urban has turned down the Notre Dame job multiple times is because they wouldn't allow his games on academics and character in order to build a team so they couldn't come to agreement. The RCC has had its issues with the child abuse scandal, but that does not mean that Catholic = coverup artist. Far from it. You're better than this and are being very unfair. Prejudicial, actually.

This is pretty simple-At minimum, you need an independent investigation here. As one of the subjects of said investigation, Urban cannot be allowed to coach during it. Good god-listen to Peter Burns in for Will Cain. This is why the four letter is so lost.

Man that's not a good look. It will be interesting to see if the admin had any knowledge of what was going on and if it comes out over the next couple of months with information requests, then it could really get ugly.

With what Ohio State is already dealing with on abuse issues, I think the odds are a lot higher than they would normally be that Urban loses his job over this.

I look at CU where MacIntyre got blasted in SI over not being sensitive enough or quick enough to terminate Tumpkin (it took a month and a half), then paid a hefty amount out of pocket - as did Rick George - because they followed the directive of the Chancellor and the instructions on how to handle these type of situations in the way OIEC had trained them. Yes, CU policy had changed since that training, but they never received the updated training and - for some political reasons - OIEC wasn't taken to task for ignoring the athletic department when policies changed.

The current climate is that you can't sweep domestic abuse under the rug. The evidence looks like it will be clear that Urban did so and then lied about it.

Is there an acceptable penalty short of termination? Not advocating it, just wondering.

One year suspension w/o pay plus 4M fine enough? Or is termination the only solution?

If he's found to have known about it and covered it up, no. They probably could have a title 9 case to get rid of him pretty quickly.

Bummer that an asshole wife beater's behavior can have a negative influence on a head coach.

At the very least, I would think OSU has to say something today and probably has to suspend him a few games or else this is going to engulf that team all August.
