2018 Rocky Mountain Showdown (8/31)

CSU has had some surprising quality at WR over the past 5 years. I can't imagine that is sustainable.
Yeah and when they can't get wins over CU with NFL caliber guys like Higgins and Gallup, we're supposed to be afraid of Olabisi Johnson? Shutting down CSU's passing game is the least of our worries, so IDGAF about their QB or WR situation. If you told me CSU's OL and running game was going to be as good as it was with Dee Hart/Jarrells in 2014, then OK, that's a different story. Even then, though, CU's DL situation in 2018 is infinitely better than it was in 2014.

New coordinator and new QB who won't be on campus until summer. And the defense appears depleted. I smell a 44-7 beat down type of game.

Honestly, their QB/WR situation can be whatever it wants to be. If we have a bonafide defensive strength, it’s our defensive backfield.

Teams that can run might cause us trouble, depending on how our front seven progress from last year. Teams that pass a lot play right to our strength.

Well it looks like CSu picked up a 4* grad transfer who sat out '17. Bad news: he might be talented. Good news: he's a grade A moron.:ROFLMAO:

CSU's 2018 Spring Game highlights (posted the Nubs one in that thread).

I think it might be no secret who will be the starting QB for the Rams and a hint for everyone: he's finishing up classes somewhere else besides Ft. Fun.

THOSE WERE THE HIGHLIGHTS?!!! HOLY SH*T. I've seen better spring execution and speed at the 3A HS level. This is not hyperbole. They have some issues up there. Damn.

Devil's advocate:
I know they lost their QB but he had lost the job the year before to their True Freshman QB who is likely a no go again due to another knee injury. But they have the grad transfer so maybe an upgrade?

RB - what they lost would appear to be replaced with younger guys. The youngsters showed to be very good last year. Boddie may be an upgrade.
They lost their stud WR but his counterpart showed a very high ceiling as the season progressed. Could actually be like our situation and improve?

They lost some key starters on OL but CSU always seems to plug and play at OL. This is where the rubber will meet the road. I suspect they will be fine .

Many of their more talented players who flashed were Frosh on D. A few youngster DL were very good as they learned under fire.

Their depth is suspect and led to a late season collapse.

So despite their losses, I'd expect CSU will be as good on offense as they have been if the QB is up to it. New system so perhaps not early?

On D they are going to a new system and that may benefit early opponents. But I believe they've recruited much better on D under Bobo and that talent has started to show. D will be a question mark for sure.

Overall I expect CSU to be similar to the team we saw last year, and a bad Buff team stole that win . We should be better so I'd go with a Buff W but I don't see this year as a big drop-off for the Rams .

Caution .
Go home. You're drunk.

Reading the LambNation tea leaves, there's very little of the confidence & swagger they usually display this time of year. Lots of "they had better improve a lot from Spring to Fall camp" statements. They feel better about their defense than last year (nowhere to go but up, amirite?) and a lot less confident about offense, including their O line.

But... most of them are football illiterate, so there's that.

I'm going with Duff's line of thinking on this one as far as points go. I see it being like 27 or 28 for CU to 10 to 13 for CSU. Comfortable win but very early to be hanging like 50 on somebody, even CSU.

And their whole pass offense went through Gallup, who is heading to the NFL and is probably the best WR that CSU has ever had. Clark is also a significant loss as a 500 yard 6 TD guy.
their #2 guy emerged as a beast. Be careful.

Stevens at QB and Dawkins at RB were very reliable seniors who made a lot of plays.
Young RB was the truth. Conceivable that UW transfer is much better than Stevens. He was way higher rated out of HS.

From their OL, losing Golditch, Bennett and Moxley is a ton (3/5 starters). For the first time in a long time, CSU is thin on the OL and was barely able to run spring practices because of difficulty fielding a 2-deep.
don't need 10 OL. CSU has NEVER sucked at OL.

They graduated 2/3
starters from their DL. A group that lacked talent and depth last year
Young guys were surprising to me .Depth perhaps an issue but young talent is better than ours thru 2017 class.

as for LB and DB, I do not have an idea. If they lost that much, then it would be a concern for Ramnation.

Now that holic is finished jerking off CSU, can we get back to talking about how CU is going to crush them and make it 4 in a row?
HAHAHA......I dont see how CSU runs the ball against us with 3 or 4 new OL guys. We will see what Roper is all about if Montez can settle down. Our OL needs to have made a jump forward

CU hasn't beat CSU 4 times in a row since we beat them 8 times in a row between 1987 and 1998. It will be enjoyable to get back up to that mark again.

As a side note, CSU hasn't beat CU 3 times in a row since CSU was Colorado Agricultural in 1931 - 1933

Man, it must be nice to just make things up lol.

kidding aside, they always give us their Super Bowl effort. i don't expect any difference this year. we still gonna put up half a hunnert on dem guys.

anything less will be disappointing. a loss would be unthinkably tragic.
