UNC - Please, PLEASE hire Altman!A soon-to-be 63 year old with no ties to the school or area? It would surprise me.

Why? I'm enjoying the fact that Oregon has never won in Boulder. I pretty much circle that home date every year when the schedule comes out. The streak has a high probability of ending if the Ducks hire someone Tad hates less than Dana -- and the list of candidates that Tad hates more may begin and end with Enfield.UNC - Please, PLEASE hire Altman!
Stevens is probably the best coach on the planet right now. I don't put anything past UNC's draw, but I have a lot of trouble seeing him leave Boston.Charlotte sports radio has tossed out Brad Stevens, Jerry Stackhouse and Hubert Davis as options.

Maybe the problem is Ainge. He's built a team of guards with no front court & a lot of challenging personalities. So I could see why Stevens could be frustrated.Boston sports radio (not me) seems to think it would be best for both parties. They think Stevens and Celtics are parting ways soonish, with the assumption being this offseason.

This would be final confirmation that IU is no longer a blue blood. Stevens, the hometown boy turns them down multiple times only to take the UNC job two weeks after the latest rejection. I don’t think it happens simply because the timing this year, but ouch if he does.Stevens is probably the best coach on the planet right now. Beard should win big quickly. Shaka recruited, so he's got talent.Beard was making $6mil/year at Tech so he was already making more than Sark at UT. Insane amount to pay a coach, but it’s hard to argue that’s not the best hire by a major conference team this offseason. That doesn’t say much, the carousel has been extremely underwhelming in terms of hires.
UT is in a rebuild for next year. Three guys from their team are gone and two more could leave.Beard should win big quickly. Shaka recruited, so he's got talent.
Only if Kai & Brown declare.UT is in a rebuild for next year. Three guys from their team are gone and two more could leave.
He could just as easily take them to the final 4 every year.Altman would be an epic disaster in Chapel Hill which I would relish

Great coach but I have trouble seeing OU with such a structured system & deliberate pace. If he can get buy-in, the sky's the limit.
I know things change, but I think of Mookie, Tisdale, Blake & Hield. OU has always been about athletes to me that sometimes end up being great hoops players. I'm trying to wrap my head around OU being a "system" program.
It wasn't that long ago that Kelvin Sampson roamed the hardwood in Norman. I don't remember a bunch of top-flight athletes then, just a tough nosed, slower paced team that won a good amount of games.
Odd that both OU and Tejass hired similar style coaches.
I think Nik has a point on Moser in Norman-I can see how he can win, but that could be a little bit of a transition for Oklahoma basketball. As far as the Texas search.......that would be considered a flop had anybody other than Chris Beard taken that job-especially with Shaka doing them a favor and leaving on his own.
OU appears to be returning to a style that was reasonably successful a few years back. We'll see if they catch lightning in a bottle for a 2nd time. Moser is a good coach.
Beard seems to be a good coach as well, but, for me, it's a bit of an odd hire. UTerus can attract primo athletes but will they go to Austin with Beard in charge? I dunno.

Beard got Tech to a Final Four. He's won a Big 12 title, multiple coach of the year awards, has a great overall Dance record, etc, etc. And he's both a lifelong Texan and a UT grad (was a student manager for Penders). Pretty much the definition of a homerun hire for the Longhorns.OU appears to be returning to a style that was reasonably successful a few years back. He is a soulless chameleon willing to do anything to win - he would not be a disaster.Altman would be an epic disaster in Chapel Hill which I would relish
Maybe not a disaster at UO or Creighton but no way he could do enough lyin' and cheatin' at UNC to satisfy that fan base...He is a soulless chameleon willing to do anything to win - he would not be a disaster.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Not sure if serious....
****, good call. So one 5* was probably a clean signing (although I'm hoping Maker bilked some of the other schools he didn't sign with for some cash). Good news is we can replace Maker with probably 90% of 4*'s who got paid.
If you have signed a 5* in the last decade, you're cheating.
They've had a very robust network since the days of Wooden. Pretty much wrote the book on it.UCLA has two this year. You think they're cheating?
