my last stint in Fast Food was primarily in the Lynchburg area and I worked with a number of LU students my take was that the majority weren't real believers and were only attending a Christian school because of their parents. Booze, weed and premarital sex were as much a part of their conversations as of VT students.

Interesting. The one thing I do know is that he is heavily involved with the elite 11 and everyone in the media that goes to that comes away really impressed with what they do at the event and their evaluation.

seems like a big step for him though.

Hugh Freeze is a **** human.

The whole thing is worth a read, but I thought this part was very very good:

I don’t care that Freeze paid players. Paying players is the only awesome thing he’s ever done. I don’t care what he did with escorts, and hopefully any transactions were lucrative. These things join the ranks of Freeze’s more concerning scandals because he’d kept lying about them even after gaining the Liberty job, which further exposes the hollow hypocrisy of his pious branding. His assumption that everyone should “get over” his awful behavior reveals he’s surrounded himself with like-minded adults who share a specific misunderstanding of redemption, especially since he then worsened his reputation by trying to intimidate Chelsea Andrews.

Way too many Christians view forgiveness as something to be granted by a third-party arbiter, whom they happen to access via an encrypted connection not available to the human victim. It doesn’t cross their minds that they should face repercussions, make amends, alter behavior, or at very least thump their poorly read1 Bibles less frequently. They instead rub some church on it, wipe a tear while smiling at other Christians who share the appropriate demographics, and declare the matter resolved. They are then shocked to discover there are people outside their back-slapping huddle who don’t recognize the validity of the Get Out Of Consequences Free Card the offender has imagined into existence.

No one is entitled to anyone else’s trust. And those of us who grew up learning to survive holy-rolling bullshitters are under zero obligation to ever see Freeze as anything but one of them.

If Auburn is selling their soul, at least they're getting a great football coach who destroys teams like New Mexico State, Virginia Tech, and UConn

Liberty is exactly the sort of place that would keep the receipts and leak them out to settle a score.
They're more likely to play the long game, continue collecting receipts and use them as private leverage as they try and move their way up the football divisions/conferences.

I forgive Auburn.

Auburn sees the back to back wins against Alabama and suddenly becomes Hellen Keller.

Listening to Klatt on the radio this morning, as well as his podcast a few days ago, and he talked about the 12 team playoff and how, going forward, coaches and recruits aren't going to be as hellbent on going to the top 3-4 programs. It goes hand in hand with the idea that CU in a USC/UCLA-less Pac 10/expanded 12 presents a much easier path to the playoff than Auburn or Ole Miss or Wisconsin, Penn State, etc in a 16 team B1G/SEC that aren't even the top teams in their own divisions or the top 3-4 teams in their own conference.

Sure, the SOS will probably factor in a bit more and weight more favorably to the B1G and SEC, but W/L will still be the primary factor and making it into the top 12 is going to be far more achievable for the Pac, ACC and Big 12 programs.

Of course, at some point, the second tier B1G and SEC programs will start complaining about this very thing, both leagues will expand further and close off the playoff to other conferences outside the P2, but until that day comes, becoming a playoff team is probably going to be easier to achieve at CU than it is at Auburn.

I agree With the bolded. if you look at the current top 12 there are some non B1G SEC teams that would make it.

  1. Georgia (12-0)†
  2. Michigan (12-0)†
  3. TCU (12-0)†
  4. USC (11-1)†
  5. Ohio State (11-1)
  6. Alabama (10-2)
  7. Tennessee (10-2)
  8. Penn State (10-2)
  9. Clemson (10-2)†
  10. Kansas State (9-3)†
  11. Utah (9-3)†
  12. Washington (10-2)
  13. Florida State (9-3)
  14. LSU (9-3)†
  15. Oregon State (9-3)
† have a CCG pending 12/3.
Red denotes non B1GSEC

The expanded playoff does lessen the importance of the regular season games and the CCG. Could the CCG go away?

Because some of the non SECB1G teams WOULD make it in in a 12er I think it should have the effect of elevating the exposure to recruits for the have nots. If those teams happen to win or make it to the Final that would obviously be very good too. A 12 team playoff might be good in terms of recruiting.

Those big conferences might not like this. the SEC and B1G I think might like to insure their teams get the most seats in that 12 team playoff.

What's the red? Non future SEC/B1G teams? If so you forgot Utah and FSU. Basically half of the top 15 and 5 of the top 12 currently reside in the future P2 conferences, but that also doesn't include the potential extra wins that Pac 12/Big 12 programs could have without USC/UCLA and UT/OU in their conferences.

Red is non SEC B1G. I edited. But some wouldnt take the color change.

If the 12 becomes a thing USC UCLA might not like it as they have a tougher road in that conference to having one of the 12 seats at the table while UW, Oregon, and hopefully CU have an easier path. I expect USC will be able to recruit to hang with the likes of tOSU and Michigan someday. UCLA, not so much.

Yeah, that's the whole point with OU/UT/USC/UCLA... None of those programs, outside of USC, are likely to ever be competitive for their new conference championships. The money is great but until the Pac, Big 12 and ACC are shut out of the playoff conversation, they all have a tougher path.
