Lighten up on Tom, he just wants to match his skills against the 2016 National Coach of the Year every year
This was perhaps the best buyers market for schools in the last decade or more. For once, CU got lucky, when they were so terribly unlucky on the timing of the last hire, that produced Dorrell.Show you how thin the openings were vs talented coaching candidates
Lane rehabbed there and parlayed two seasons into an SEC job. Boca Raton (aka Silicon Valley) is nice too.FAU is headed to the AAC, so it's not as small time as FIU. But, still, that's a big drop from winning 4 straight bowls and pulling in top ten recruiting classes at Texas a couple years ago.
He's was number one on my board. That is weird. I would have been ecstatic if we hired him, and he ends up going head to head with FHCMM???
Cincinnati’s updated candidate list (12/1)
Jason Candle, Toledo HC
Sean Lewis, Kent State HC
Mo Linguist, Buffalo HC
Jim Leonhard, Wisconsin defensive coordinator
Brian Hartline, Ohio State wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator
Alex Golesh, Tennessee offensive coordinator
Al Golden, Notre Dame defensive coordinator
Kerry Coombs, Cincinnati special teams coordinator/cornerbacks coach
Gino Guidugli, Cincinnati offensive coordinator
I don't know how you could pass on Mo Linguist. If there was ever an all-name team for coaches, he would be on it.One name not on that list
Lane is awesome. Duff was so close to having it ALL next year
I have always believed he was done wrong at USC. They got screwed on that NCAA penalty, Lane kept them above water while recruiting great and creatively (1st time I'd heard of a "Green Shirt"). USC arrogance deluded them into thinking they were bulletproof and the NCAA penalties didn't matter. Lane was still a petulant manchild who couldn't handle criticism. If they'd realized the truth of what they had & the situation, they would have only been mediocre for a blip. You can tell he is still a complete smartass at heart, but he is definitely more mature as well.
His career trajectory has been wild.
The tarmac firing was some petty bull****. Pad Haden was an atrocious AD.I have always believed he was done wrong at USC. He's making $1.5M in a job & place he loves. Why take a pay cut and move your family somewhere you wouldn't like as much?I’m happy with that as a Badger fan, but I feel like he could really take this opportunity to go somewhere bigger as DC to expand his resume
Because he’s one of the top DCs in the country would probably warrant the same $$ at a bigger program and advance his career. Of course this all assumes he wants to be a HC at a program not named Wisconsin. He's making $1.5M in a job & place he loves. Why take a pay cut and move your family somewhere you wouldn't like as much?

#2 of courseBadger fan???
In most years, Golesh would have a pile of P5 HC job opportunities to pick from. I'm honestly kinda surprised he's going to USF.Golesh is a great hire for USF
