My frustration is that the staff felt it necessary to recruit a Punter last year when there was already a decent one on the roster with multiple years of eligibility left.I'm with Adam on this, but why DID we have two punters on scholarship?
Feel for the kid but was definitely time to move on, no matter what he does next yearHave to wonder if Miller was told to go with his injury history. This, of course, will guarantee he is going to be healthy all year for whomever he signs with.
Even with his injury history, if they told him to leave after losing 3 out of 4 starters in the defensive backfield… This staff is ever more stupid than I already thought. And I think VERY lowly of this staff.Have to wonder if Miller was told to go with his injury history. This, of course, will guarantee he is going to be healthy all year for whomever he signs with.
Especially with the guys who have been here 4 or 5 years, they need to be very judicious with those roster spots (and yes, some of that is Covid, but some of it also is roster mismanagement by signing big classes)Watt and Miller entering the portal suggests to me that the staff is having discussions with players to move on
Fair. There is risk. And I think this would be a tougher decision if Watts was Barry Helton. Watts is good but not an All American.Yeah, understood. Not a complaint, more of a mumble. This isn't something to get upset about.
Now, if you let an impact punter go and the freshman averages 37 yards a punt....
Eligibility. Recruit over Logan if he doesn’t perform.I think most HCs would have made this choice. Easily. JMO.It is not the worst move made this off-season. However, if you have a punter who has eligibility and has shown to be able to swing field position consistently, why push that player out for an unproven punter? If they actually had a roster plan in place, they would have signed a punter next year.
Eh, Miller needed to move on. He hasn't been a factor during his time at CU using a scholarship on a guy who has never stayed healthy would have been poor management.Even with his injury history, if they told him to leave after losing 3 out of 4 starters in the defensive backfield… This staff is ever more stupid than I already thought. they better have someone ready to take in the portal otherwise they are just bleeding DB’s

Any other year I would think this is good attrition. I’m just not confident they will be able to replace now 4 DB’s when they have only landed one good transfer in SneedEh, Miller needed to move on. Miller needs to go play at a lower level where the hits and risks are a bit lower. Smallish corners and DB’s are injury prone. I hope for a great future for Miller!Eh, Miller needed to move on. Every now and then he gives us a coherent post that is spelled correctly and makes sense.

fixedI had high hopes for everyone.
Will not root for him. I hope he rides the bench there
I don't disagree with recruiting over current players, obviously. Though, I might point out that our recent history with 5* recruits does not really bode well for the idea of getting rid of a very solid and experienced punter with a good leg who was the only way we were changing field position most of last year.Watts came in with 2 (or 3) to play 2, he gets the extra Covid year. CU already has a 5* punter that they convinced to gray shirt in order to not have 2 punters on scholarship for 2021.
and this is the worst possible strategy for a head coach that needs to win now to retain his job. he must know this, and the transfer portal was the only hope of having any semblance of chance of winning now, so the conclusion has to be that we struck out on the vast majority of high quality transfers that we pursued (sneed the only exception).I don't disagree with recruiting over current players, obviously. But hey, the current "plan" seems to be to getting rid of the few good players we had to replace them with true freshman we hope will become great (someday). Watts fits right into that approach.
