2024-25 Coaching Carousel

Just like Deion Sanders, hah
Black Icon that is friends with everyone cool
Old White guy known for Tom Brady's coach
This is a ploy to get his son a coaching job
The one thing he has going for him is his game planning, which at times is genius with good smart players, not sure many young players can master the discipline to play complex schemes, but we shall get our popcorn and find out

Think this is likelier to end up closer to the Herm Edwards / Lovie Smith / Charlie Weis experience than Deion Sanders.

Also a three year deal? Kids are supposed to commit to a coach who won’t even be there for the length of their time at school.

just so i get this right, unc is hiring a 72 year old career nfl coach whose approach was widely seen as out of touch and outdated in a league where you mostly have very, very high net worth professionals in their early and mid 20s and over to coach 18 year olds straight out of hs?

He acts like he has the DiVinci code figured out for College Programs and NFL incubator
This is what Prime has done for the past 2 years and is ramping it up even more this year, but with actual coolness and swag
So funny

Three years for a college head coach very well could become the norm. Those longer contracts will be going to GMs who will be coming into the game of college football.

Get it through your heads: college football is now NFL Lite and I'm thankful CU got Coach Prime at the right time.

The only thing that I give UNC credit for is swinging for the fences like we did.
If there were a line outside for the entrance to the P2 Kingdom, Colorado and North Carolina would be in the top 5 of trying and doing everything it takes to get in.
Only Florida State, Miami, and possibly Kansas are doing anything to stand up tall and say, we belong

Actually he might have more in common with them than you think by the looks of his girlfriend.

I just don't understand why you would fire Mack Brown to hire Bill Belichick. The only thing I can think of which might explain it is that the idea of Belichick so excited prominent UNC alums and boosters that it secured a ton of new money while forcing the university to accept significant operational changes & investments. Because Mack was everything you could want in a college coach besides his age/ uncertain future retirement.

This was certainly a message to the SEC that UNC is telling them "come get us".

After Belchik is done, he could simply step aside and be just the GM while his son is the HC. I imagine there will be more stuff like this coming down the pipeline.

Okie State wants badly to fire Gundy after his 2nd losing season in 20 years at the helm (and first in 19 years). They hit on two HC hires in a row. They're going to find out how hard it is to hit on three in a row pretty shortly, especially with the disadvantages they face in recruiting these days:

Gundy has almost double the number of top 25 finishes (10 in 20 seasons) as the rest of the coaches in OK St. history COMBINED (6 in 91 seasons).

Lol. UNC's AD had it right- it's way more damaging for a program to get strung out for multiple seasons in a row by a guy whose time is past, so it's best to cut bait as early as possible. Utah about to go in limbo for another 2-3 seasons.
Any coincidence that Gundy started to win the same year that T. Boone Pickens donated $165 million (which later sitting in a hedge fund which had reached $267 million declined in value to $125 million.)

Take away the multiple large donations by T. Boone and Oklahoma State is one of the lower budget programs in the B12.

I think Bill just wants to be in the target rich environment of a college campus because his girlfriend is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Those situations maybe point to a trend for the college coaching profession. If you're happy, have total job security, a path to the playoffs and you are earning millions of dollars a year - why would you give that up to go to a place which will may you more money and make you more of a national celebrity but might chew you up and spit you out within 2-3 years?

Kalen Deboer come on down!

Bill Snyder's kid had more qualification to take over after hid dad. And KSU did right thing saying nah Darth. This is UNC play to bigtime football, dunno.

First sign of adversity, where is coach? Down for the program or shrug to the beach because he's already done what he's famous for,?

What are colleges doing? Just lighting money on fire. I mean, CU has a big pile of ashes from money too, but this stuff is wild to me
