2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

On another note, Kyndrich Breedlove hit the portal today. He had a good/great season at Purdue. Wonder if Prime/he considers coming back? As I recall, he left on good terms. I think he could be a solid N/S addition. Tons of experience.

Also, O Cooper portaled out of Florida State.

Gavriel Lightfoot sounds like a name from Middle Earth. One of the goofier species.

Agree. I really like Miller & Miller and the other guys look promising too. I think they will go out and try to find 2 bigger framed receivers like Shepphard. Not sure what Timmons will do, if he is healthy and in the fold, they might go 1 lg WR. Unless they feel set in house with a returner, I see them going after someone like Wester, a burner with tons of kick returning experience. Even if that transfer is beat out for KR/PR, it gives CU another option should a guy get hurt/dinged or face adversity. @Buffnik is right in that they will sign for depth too, so 3-5 is not a stretch. Buffs need the competition for practice and sometimes a depth peice just pops.

I envision Prime/Shurmer tweaking/adjusting the offense more than we may think. Do you think this is right?? Presuming we play a young QB (probably Juju) protection, running, and simplifying things will be a premium early in the season. Without a proven unicorn in TH opposing defenses may throw more things at our QB(s). I felt TH simplified things for SS, however SS was still a proven 1st rounder without TH. With that, I think they want to advance the running game and also develop more protection options for Juju as he progresses, even presuming a pass heavy offense.

I can see them going after a TE/WR combo type that might be a bigger target on the inside. To my knowledge we did not play any 2TE, but they may want to consider that option for certain situations given a young QB. A flex TE/WR might fit here, however these guys are hard to find. For this season, 2TE made no sense given all the riches at WR and potential at RB--CU would have been pulling talent/speed off the field to run that. Instead, CU's screen game at times was lethal.
I'd expect that they will focus on making things as easy as possible for a young QB.

That means big WRs with large catch radius on the outside to win 50/50 balls by boxing out. That means quick acceleration slot guys who can take a bubble to the house. That means TEs that can beat LBs to a spot and always be there as a check down option. And that means loading up on a run game so he's facing a lot of 3rd & 5 or fewer while staying on schedule for easier conversions.

In a couple years, JuJu can have it on his shoulders and we can have more of the tight window throws to smaller receivers and more risks of passing on 1st & 2nd down with us still being confident on 3rd & 10+.

Meh. It’s like getting back together with your ex-wife. They are your ex for a reason

Fascinating that now the number of schollies is no longer really a consideration at all, but how many quality guys you can convince to fill up the depth chart before they won’t come because you’ve got too many in the depth chart.

With HCP’s approach of only taking guys who can really contribute—pretty much right away, we will be WAY below the max scholly level going forward.

I doubt we're way under. I had this discussion on 247 the other day, but people forget how many athletes you need to compete. Practice bodies, special teams, specialists, it all adds up. For example, last year we had 3 long snappers and 6 K/P on the roster, but only 3 were on scholarship. Expect that to double without walk ons. And there's more flexibility to take a couple of risks, add in state kids, etc. They won't be high profile, but I doubt we're too far under 105 next year.

A whole bunch of guys who would have been PWO's are now going to have their school paid for.

So… He was the starting QB, 16 TDs and 7 Ints. 66% Comps, and had more rushing attempts and yards than anyone else on a 3-10 team.

Not sure where else he thinks he’s going to start. He’s not going up a level.
I think he was pretty clear in his post. He wants to see if he can up his pay somewhere else, and if not, he’ll come back to Nevada.

I remember being so excited about him.
He's got all the physical tools. Something didn't connect with presnap read -> postsnap read -> pulling the trigger. I didn't watch him at Nevada, but if he got rid of the hitch he could be a good college QB. Threw a very catchable deep ball.
