2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

School of Mines punter which would have made sense for us

You think we are going to use a punter next year?!?!

No Way Friday GIF

Likely would have played with Carver Willis at Durango.

and been coached by Loadholt?

Can confirm Salter may be taking a visit, but he will not be coming to Boulder. He wants a guarantee of QB1 and a bag. Basically, the trip is an exposure play for him.
CU is in a tough spot right now with QBs. No veteran QB worth bringing in is agreeing to compete with juju when there are other offers out there and starting spots available. I’m guessing we get an other JAG caliber guy now and then the market gets reevaluated after Spring.

What is the timeline with transfers? Is there a set "signing" day for them, or can they sign at anytime until next year school starts?

Best bet might be bringing in a former 4* from a blue blood that isn’t a current starter and is already sitting in a stacked QB room and sell him on idea of less competition but no starter guarantee. Essentially what we did last year and hope we can get someone more talented.

how many wide receivers do you think we take from the portal? 2 who we think can contribute asap?
That sounds right. Miller & Miller is better than most teams will have, but I expect Prime to grab 2 more proven starters. Then, we'll see a bunch of depth signings. So, maybe 2 + 5?

Agree. I really like Miller & Miller and the other guys look promising too. I think they will go out and try to find 2 bigger framed receivers like Shepphard. Not sure what Timmons will do, if he is healthy and in the fold, they might go 1 lg WR. Unless they feel set in house with a returner, I see them going after someone like Wester, a burner with tons of kick returning experience. Even if that transfer is beat out for KR/PR, it gives CU another option should a guy get hurt/dinged or face adversity. @Buffnik is right in that they will sign for depth too, so 3-5 is not a stretch. Buffs need the competition for practice and sometimes a depth peice just pops.

I envision Prime/Shurmer tweaking/adjusting the offense more than we may think. Do you think this is right?? Presuming we play a young QB (probably Juju) protection, running, and simplifying things will be a premium early in the season. Without a proven unicorn in TH opposing defenses may throw more things at our QB(s). I felt TH simplified things for SS, however SS was still a proven 1st rounder without TH. With that, I think they want to advance the running game and also develop more protection options for Juju as he progresses, even presuming a pass heavy offense.

I can see them going after a TE/WR combo type that might be a bigger target on the inside. To my knowledge we did not play any 2TE, but they may want to consider that option for certain situations given a young QB. A flex TE/WR might fit here, however these guys are hard to find. For this season, 2TE made no sense given all the riches at WR and potential at RB--CU would have been pulling talent/speed off the field to run that. Instead, CU's screen game at times was lethal.
