I see 5 players on that screen cap that we've been in heavy contact with already.

Mikey played well in that role in 2023 - made some crucial catches and TD's. Given the ineptitude of TE's on the current roster, this would be an upgrade. Not that the TE room would be filled at that time, but he would be a nice outlet for Juju.
Supposedly we are recruiting this TE and trying to get him to Boulder, so I'll retract what I said.As I said, I haven't seen how Ball State used him, but 94 receptions is 2 more than Travis Hunter had this year. That means this guy is essentially WR1 for Ball State and likely never in a position to be a blocker. That is not the type of TE that an offense under Prime will ever have.
Taylor is absolutely horrible and cannot play at this level for anyone. He is not a loss at all, in fact a net positive so we don't waste a schloarship on him.QB depth is going to be a huge problem for almost all of CFP for the foreseeable future. Every backup in the country is going to look to get to a place where they are guaranteed to start.
An injury to QB1 is going to sink most teams because they won’t have enough depth. Also, in the years that you don’t have a good QB ready to go, you are going to struggle. Just look at Michigan this year.
This is why losing Taylor is a bit troubling. It will be interesting to see how our staff handles QB depth with a blue chip like Lewis coming in.
For sure. It's the classic case of changing your offense to fit the talent. Go get the guy and then figure out how to get him the ball.If you cannot find a way for a 6'7"/235 TE with good hands to "fit the offense," that offense blows.
What was wrong was that we had Hunter, Sheppard, Horn, Wester, Miller, etc. I’m not sure the Buffs would have used a tight end much regardless. For sure. It's the classic case of changing your offense to fit the talent. Go get the guy and then figure out how to get him the ball.
... but our offense has failed to do that despite recruiting two good pass catching TE in the last two years under this staff, so something's wrong.
We used a TE a significant amount. He just wasn't any good at running routesWhat was wrong was that we had Hunter, Sheppard, Horn, Wester, Miller, etc. I’m not sure the Buffs would have used a tight end much regardless.

Shedeur said, "Lets go get drafted."Looks like Ollie Gordon declared for the draft so there goes that dream

I thought an offense was designed around athletes you recruit. CUs Oline is improved, can’t see how he wouldn’t be an excellent target for an accurate young QB.Without having seen a single snap of his, I would say 94 receptions seems like he's mostly a flex TE that's mostly lined up as a receiver. If that's the case and he doesn't do much from an in line or even hybrid role, I don't think he's a fit here.
Who were these "good pass catching TEs" you speak of?For sure. It's the classic case of changing your offense to fit the talent. Go get the guy and then figure out how to get him the ball.

For a converted DE who had one summer to learn the position, he did a decent job.We used a TE a significant amount. He just wasn't any good at running routes
