2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

Colton leaving hurts. Brandon and Trenton weren't going to see the field this year.

Good to see CU adding guys--Johnson (OL), Slaughter (CB), and Taylor (RB/KR) today. I'm looking for another LB or two, and a TE.

@Da Lama, you (and maybe others) are probably going to shut me down, but what about CU taking a "flyer" on Justin Flowe at ILB, the former 5* who played at ORE, transferred AZ had a decent 2023, then preserved his RS last year to get fully healthy--knee injury. He has had a few insanely good games playing both Mike and Will, but touted as a run-stopper. For 2024, AZ had Frisch bolt to WA briging in Brennan and played Jacob Manu at LB (another 5*--touted 2024 pre-season as the best LB in B12). Manu bolted for UW in Nov/Dec. I feel it's a red flag when a guy sort of quits on his team to RS, however it sounds like Flowe stayed active in AZ's program all year while RSing and into this spring. It sounds like he was neck and neck to start this fall, but beat out by transfer Daniel Heimuli (a UW 4* in like his 6th year--JUCO), so he portaled last week.

I don't think the guy is "bag" worthy, will scare off another player, and is just a one year rental. On3 has him ranked #1722; 247 #903. The guy is certainly an enigma with different personality, however I like his size (6'2, 235), projected athleticism, and if healthy/in shape he could project as a good run stopper. Certainly, he would have to visit to determine whether he is in shape/healthy, injury status (how bad is the knee), and could fit in. With Sapp, Pecko, Prime etc... and a more established team, they might be able to handle his personality. I doubt Flowe would be looking outside the P4 given his size etc...

Here are a few articles to scan if you/others and his 247 original profile for those interested. A few odd things are both Lanning and Frisch recently said some good/interesting things about him and he has a decent draft profile?

One wierd article below, it looked like he was headed to ASU in November, but apparently stayed with AZ for the spring:

As I read the articles and what was said, it sounds like he has a crazy intense Eric Beiniemy type personality. I went to school with EB and he was roommates with one of my close friends. When EB was young, so intense and even still intense but mellowed some. As a positive, it does not sound like Flowe was kicked off any team and I have seen nothing negative about grades or legal issues. Who knows maybe I'm just throwing a name out there. I think last transfer JUJU Mitchell is playing in NFL Europe--he would have been our best LB two years ago, except he was booted from the team.

For what it is worth!

It would be nice if he grows and can be developed like Cortlan Johnson, who was a 3rd down RB key to the 2001-2 team. He was the 3rd RB off the bench behind Brown and Purify.
Cortlen Johnson had NFL-worthy talent. He just happened to be stuck behind two absolute studs. In this era, he would've transferred, got a bag and gone off for someone else. 🤷‍♂️

I don't expect a lot more than return game and 3rd down RB.
He won't be close to a workhorse but he doesn't need to be.

Sean Payton keeps talking about a joker for the Broncos. This kid could be that for the Buffs. Be a guy who opponents have to prepare for because on any given play he can turn a quick pass or a pitch into a game changer.

With the WRs we will be putting on the field the last thing an opponent wants to have to do is dedicate a DB to covering a RB instead of using a LB.

That would be ideal. But without getting greedy, I think we got a guy who can challenge for All Conference as a return man. If he does that, it was a great signing even if he doesn't get a lot of yards from scrimmage as a RB.
