2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

See I felt like when Shurmur got his way they actually tried establishing the run game and it worked. There was more 11 personnel being used than 10 personnel, they were going out of the pistol more, etc. Shurmur was also on one of the broadcasts late in the season (I think Okie State) saying it’s Shedeur’s offense and that he’s had to learn a lot more about 4 wide as a base set than he’s ever known.

I think if you look at Shedeur’s career from JSU with Bartolone (and the other guy still on staff I’m drawing a blank on right now) as his OC, it was essentially the same thing in 2024 as it was at JSU.

I think that’s exactly why it didn’t work with Lewis in year one. Lewis wanted his offense and concepts which required a running QB and a lot of option/read routes from WRs. Very much a college offense that Shedeur didn’t like, so they brought in Shurmur to at least bring some NFL ideas, coaching a one concepts.
Lewis's offense is cringe. But we did look the best offensively last year in the first game vs TCU.

I mean, his business isn’t college coaching. It’s coaching and training high school kids to get scholarships. Performing well at the next level is on the player and school and I would bet his players don’t perform any worse at the next level than other guys coming from Colorado who don’t use his services.
I really think that what McChesney is doing in many cases is bringing out the development potential in kids a couple years early.

They finish high school bigger and stronger but then don't see the expected college development because they have already come close to maxxing out.

I don't buy that. For this to be true, Six Zero would have to be unusual. These types of training gyms are all over the country and many of them are better while having prospects who are more dedicated to the process than the guys from McC's gym. Further, the youth football and HS competition, coaching and training are much better in other places than in CO. So I think the idea that colleges are thrown for a loop because Six Zero has maxed out the potential of its kids to a greater degree than other recruits is a silly notion.
