24-25 MBB Team

Monday is the nightmare day for me. I’m not happy.

Its funny. For football I was happy with the move to the Big 12. For Hoops??? Not so much, and its probably 99.99999999% because we have to be in the same conference as those people.

For all its other flaws, I did enjoy the normalcy of the Pac-12s scheduling. Consistently Thursday Saturday with the occasional Wednesday or Sunday game thrown in.
I think the travel partner thing was huge for the players.

We have a Sunday at TCU followed by a Wednesday at Utah. That’s four flights in four days. Much harder to deal with school, life and basketball

Its big business now. Its all about the tv. They are professional athletes. Gotta play to pay the bills. Not sure Travis and Shaduer have been to class more than twice in a year and a half. That said I liked the travel partner system when I was playing in college and as a fan, its a shame big money has taken over and basically destroyed all rivalries due to conference re alignment and big tv deals. Its no longer the same game. The term student-athlete maybe shouldn't even be associated with college anymore. With athletes transferring 4 or 5 times in college careers they stand no chance of graduating while they are playing. The landscape has changed and this is the norm for right now, until the next change.

At least for the big conferences and schools, most of them charter, so travel isn't quite as difficult. Its an hour flight from Denver to Salt Lake. Its further to Fort Worth, but not terrible. Some of them probably had longer bus rides in high school.

4 to 5 transfers is not the norm for even basketball and football players.

I'd love to see the numbers, but I'd bet money that less than 1% transfer 4+ times.

It isn't all players by any means, but its a lot, and 4 or 5 schools might be an exaggeration, but you don't end up with 2000 kids in the portal for basketball every year and have a bunch of kids staying put.. CU is on the low end when it comes to portal turnover and even they had 3 kids move on to other schools. J'Vonne and Eddie are at their third school. SO you can make what ever assumptions about it you like.
