Adams promoted to Co-OC, Chiaverini to call plays

Think Joel Klatt would have any interest?
No. He's getting bigger showcase games and moving up the ladder fast, from what I can tell. He moved his family to the west coast. And he's probably making a lot more than a QB coach at CU pays.

Weird on a lot of levels. I know MM has had Adams for a lot of years and has seen him as an up and comer forever. If he really has a **** ton of confidence in Chev and thinks Adams deserves it and is perhaps the guy managing the running game portion already, then ok - it's warranted in that scenario. But that relies 100% on Chev is ready and Lindgren was a fool.

We have a new play caller and another guy providing input into the game plan (QB coach coming on board). DC will handle the passing game along with the QB coach and CA will get the run game. I just hope both DC and CA stay on the field and have the QB coach in the booth.

I guess CU is just not familiar with the concept of performance-based comp and advancement. Sure seems like a wasted opportunity. MikeMac must still be checked out.

Senior players see the field, senior coaches get promoted? Is this a fvcking union shop?

Hoping for it works out. Go Buffs.

LOL at idots thinking we were going to make a splash hire as an OC for a head coach that the same people on here say is checked out, sucks balls and should be fired. That's always an enticing opportunity for a HOT coordinator to want to come into!

I like it....he’ll want to run the ball. I also think he’s a much better coach than what was displayed by the OL this year
Great Coach, great guy and excellent young offensive mind. Tough injury and scheme year this year which he will bring a much needed view to. Better play calling from Chev and some better decision making and quick releases from the QB will help this a lot.

To me, this means it was the only way Adams and Chev were going to stay at CU. Going out to find an established, veteran OC and essentially demote Chev was just not going to happen, and in order to keep Adams happy was to give him the "2017 Chev promotion". Whatever, go out and get a legit QB coach, replace Bernardi with a recruiter and we'll see what happens with Hagan.

Wait.....what is the big worry about keeping Adams? What has he done that has been truly meaningful? Did he recruit big names? I have been frustrated by the play of his units.

Who becomes the head of recruiting when Chev gets passed over?

I would assume whomever he was passed over for. It's not like we are killing it with recruiting. Rivals has us ranked 48th right now nationally. Come signing day I expect that ends up somewhere mid-60's. Which means 3 years from now we will all be cheering the last game of the season hoping for that 6th win and an invite to the Independence Bowl because who doesn't want to go to Shreveport at the end of December.

IIRC, Adams was interviewed by UW last year. He is an up and comer. I think, speaking for myself, fans were looking for something along the lines of JMFL, not a corporate reorganization with one guy put on the ice floe.

When seasons with high expectations go south, you look at other programs...they seem to go out and aggressively look for new blood. CU sits back and shuffles the deck. Why wouldn't fans be disappointed? The same guys are now going to save the day? Maybe they will.....

With all the coaching changes, it would seem reasonable that we will poach a few recruits at the 11th hour. I wouldn’t be too sure our ranking falls too far. A couple DL and a good LB or two and we are in business.

Not if jeffcoat is still on staff...

Why do I get the feeling half of you OL experts are going to be disappointed when this works out well and we make a bowl game next year.

We sucked this year and have to get a more ass-kicker mentality up front on both sides of the ball. I think Adams is a really good OL coach and if we can stay healthy he has the ingredients for a decent line next year growing into a great line for the next several years. Biggest thing we need right now is a NG/0 that has the ability to anchor the middle and take on two OL every play. Otherwise we are toast up the middle. If we had even average NG play last year we win the Arizona game and possibly Arizona State even with the issues we had on the offensive side of the ball.
