Adams promoted to Co-OC, Chiaverini to call plays

It’s funny, because nobody has been screaming for guys like Adams or Chev to be replaced. Yet, now that they’re staying, people are pissed.

I’m willing to wait to see what happens with the QB and TE coaching positions, and maybe OL coaching position. Who knows what that will look like.

No one is mad that they are staying. People are mad that they are getting promoted to positions that neither of them have any experience doing.

Which HOT name coach was going to come? And how does a coach get experience except for actually doing it?

I sure as hell wanted chev to stay, concerned he's not ready but to have adams join him as co OC? LAZY

How much longer would Adams stick around without a promotion?

Nobody knows for sure, obviously. He’s an up and coming name, though. It would have sucked to hire a new OC, only to lose Adams and Chev because we were too scared to hand them the keys.

It’s all academic anyway. This isn’t Tennessee. We don’t have a big rock we can paint to change keep somebody from being hired. MM sinks or swims with these guys next year.

It is typically fine to promote a coach to a position they have never held before, as long as you have someone on staff with a little experience to help them when needed. You don't move two coaches to positions they have never held. Especially not when there is no one else on offense to lean on if necessary. Chiaverini is it. He is the offensive guy on staff now. Not even the head coach has experience on the offensive side of things to help him out if needed.

The best hope is that the QB coach has some experience as a play caller and can provide a sounding board if required.

Yeah tell me how the defense did this recent season after only Jeffcoat came back. I don't think CU or HCMM could afford to see similar turnover on the other side of the ball.

Which btw, I put no stock in. Players are the last to get things right often enough and of course they all like Adams and Chev. Which should count for zero.
Fair enough but I think half the issue this season seemed to be motivation, and when you are fired up about your coaches, that can be a hell of a motivator.

Nobody? I want Adams out of here, and I've been pretty clear about that since the end of the Utah game. I don't think he's that good a recruiter, and I think his unit was probably the worst position group on this team this year. This is a joke.

I'll readily admit I'm a glass 1/2 full kind of guy, but I'm excited to see what Chev can do calling plays. Almost everyone on here wasn't satisfied with play calling. I know I wasn't. Well, we've got someone new at the helm now and he bleeds BlackNGold. I don't understand the Adams move, though.

Now on to the next batch of changes. Let's get with it, MM! Find some great AC's that can replace JJ and Bernardi. Let's get a hotshot QB coach and a 10th coach that can recruit.

What makes you think hotshots are on the way?

Are there any other OC play callers that are also recruiting coordinators? My worry with Chev is not that I don't think he is ready (I don't know that he is either), but more so that he is being stretched too thin. And we are pulling him away from what seems to be his best aspect, which is recruiting.

But is recruiting all Darren wants to do? He obviously wants to move up the coaching ranks and holding him back would be a bad move just so he could be the recruiting coordinator? And who’s to say that he can’t recruit as an OC? At least priority targets.
