Arizona post-game thread

Hmmmmm..... like I said, been a few years since seeing CU play. And I stand by what I say about talent. Maybe in the past few years the talent of the players has gotten better, I don't know, havent watched or read about the Buffs. Heck one guy I remember is still kicking for the Packers, right? What I saw tonight was no reflection of the talent I watched on the field for CU in the Big 6,7,8 & 12 days. I do know that for certain. So I dont think you know me, and I dont think I know you until tonight. Just so you know. So tell me, who on the Buffs top 22 starters who could play at a P5 and start? Say a Michigan, Wisconsin, Clemson, or even a number of SEC teams? Heck even saxeT?
Shenault & Landman

To be fair Shenault may be a generational talent and we probably don't lose the last two games with him and maybe not the last three. It doesn't excuse the Oregon State implosion and subsequent breaking of the team, but we easily could have been looking at a potential 10-2 like season rather than a 5-7 one minus just one injury.
There have been a ton of “should have won” games over the last two seasons. Last year could/should have been probably a 7-8 win season, and they could/should be sitting at 7-2 right now and looking at being ranked again.

That’s the story of MM when it comes to sustaining any kind of success, though. Just good enough to get you beat.

Over the last two years the team has played seven (7!) games with bowl eligibility on the line. The team is 0 - 7.

This four game stretch has been a down-right abomination.

An injury to the main weapon, does not lose a game to OSU after being up 31-3 after the first play of the second half. The defensive secondary play has been nonexistent, and the biggest blunder source all season - Abrams and Rakestraw being the exception sometimes.

The coaching doesn’t seem to know how to adjust after getting caught by the toe and this has allowed games to slip away in the second half.

The last three games will be what this 2018 is about. 5-0 is a distant memory...this team is now 0-4. It doesn’t matter what could have been or should have been, this is team is now 0-4. This does not give fuel to fire up any prospective HC’s looking to come in, and now hurts the recruiting prospects. When Viska comes back, will he be the same? What are we going to do to shore up the D backfield and O line problems?

The Buffs need a shot in the arm for the final three games. They need to put bowl eligibility out of the minds and play for face and pride. USC sucked the wind from the Buffs’ sails...this team has not been the same since, and it’s up to the Buffs- from the players, to the coaches to get back into sync and play like there is nothing left to lose.

Wait a minute.

The point is that the current coach is losing. If he was winning, there would be no need to entice other HCs to CU.

It is more than Turf Toe! I have had that before, and there is a point that you can numb it up, splint and wrap the toes together and play.
You and I have had a different experience with turf toe.

I'm on year five. It happened in a pick-up football game, and in the moment I suspected I'd never push off on that toe again. So far I'm right. Everything on that foot--walking, boxing, running, comes off the outside of the toe or the heel now.

Holy hell. That’s true and the most depressing stat I’ve read. Going to a bowl is essential for any team to improve long term. Every year we give away 15 practices to the rest of our competition. Over the past four years of our rebuild, we have had 45 fewer days of practice than most of our PAC12 competition. Hard to catch up.

Not to mention the recruiting hit of not being a bowl team. Look at the recruits we got from one bowl: Viska, KD, Landman (?), Mustafa, Edwards, Wells, all the young recievers, etc.

I think you should get that looked at lol

Just an update. Colorado sits alone dead last in a completely ****ty PAC 12 South.

I have never liked MM as a coach and I can't say much for his assistants, but I think the players did a pretty good job last night. 3 best receivers out, all kickers out, starting safety out.

We have so-so 1st line talent and our backups struggle. the coaches just don't cut it. I thought all the QB planned runs hurt Montez too.

what kills me, is that the college football culture is such that a mediocre coach like MM has a $9 mill buyout. why? if he can't cut it, he shouldn't be rewarded that way

Buyout is $10 million

He says the ****ing obvious? Woot!

He never really takes ownership and it is always something a little bit different.

Our OL got dominated? Thanks? Our corners are really bad? Thanks?

He is right up there with Wendy Frosty on not taking ownership of anything. The players need a new uniform combo, this one with bus tire tracks on their backs.

Buyout his $3M per year for 3 years -- if MM doesn't get another coaching job which offsets that number.

You’re forgetting the $300K in bonuses per season that he gets as well. The exact total if he is fired after this season is $9,975,000. This doesn’t factor guarantees owed to assistants.

I still haven’t seen or read anything about offsets. Jimmy Sexton clients often get them negotiated out in sweetheart extensions. The dude who beat us last night had no offset lanuage in his second contract too.

If the AD is serious about competing for Pac 12 Championships then Mac has to go. Maybe not right now, but at the end of the season. This can't be another Hawkins situation where he comes back for another season as a lame duck. I know the buyout is a lot of money, but Rick George needs to raise it. We need to be a big boy program.
