Am I the only one critiquing the playcalling? Chev had his best game last night but his offense doesnt fit this team. Travon is a damn good back but he needs to get a downhill start from pistol or under center. Montez isn't quick enough to be a consistent threat in the read option, he's fast when he gets going but he's not quick. Travon is downhill one cut boom and you don't get that from traditional shotgun running.
Let's hear your brilliant take on that. Please give a response that shows you actually know a little bit about the game besides herp durr the oline sucks
I wish I shared your optimism, but I don’t know what you’ve been watching from our secondary that suggests we will even come close to slowing down the best passing attack in the conference. Our front just got dominated by a mediocre Arizona team.Because our front can play against theirs, I like having Lewis and Taylor in the pass game, our corners seem to be getting closer and closer to playing those deep balls better (abrams and Blackmon last night), and I actually like rakestraw in that matchup a little bit. My biggest concern in that game is the coaches having Gamboa our tbere too much. I also know that Utah is going to own our front seven on defense and will likely run the ball at will so they will be able to tee off on Montez when we are tying to play catch up.
Pass the bong...Montes has helped he's pretty good at getting away from could be tacklers and last night he was outstanding. That said our oline isn't as bad as some people here say. I've said it since USC, this offense has been completely hamstringed by the design of some plays and, even more so, the terrible predictable play calling. Last nights playcalling was chev best all year, still had some really bad calls

Just that Abrams got his head around on the td he let up and then Blackmon did the same thing in his first real action of the year, he did a lot better job actually staying with the receiver than wigley ever did. WSU doesn’t run the ball so we can have more help over the top from our safeties and I don’t see their offense with the same type of qb run threat as zona had with Tate.I wish I shared your optimism, but I don’t know what you’ve been watching from our secondary that suggests we will even come close to slowing down the best passing attack in the conference. Even more irrelevant to continue. Toxic Hell, aka Taco Bell is a supporter of the Red Wings and contracted a promotion deal with the "hockey town" team a couple of years ago. Said deal was any game a Red Wing player scored a hat trick, TB would have a "free taco" day. Its been over 2 years since a Red Wing has scored 3 goals in a game. Also the fact Detroit is not scoring 3 goals very often in a game, not to mention a hat trick, led TB changing this from a hat trick to just the Red Wings scoring 3 goals in a game. I don't know if this is in just the greater Detroit area, all of Michigan including the UP, or nationwide. Not relevant to your point, but what the hell....
Eh, the defense gave up 350 yards passing and over 200 yards rushing (15 to Tate) yesterday. I’m not confidence our defense can do much of anything at this point.Just that Abrams got his head around on the td he let up and then Blackmon did the same thing in his first real action of the year, he did a lot better job actually staying with the receiver than wigley ever did. Yeah but it is a totally different attack than what we are going to face against Washington State. Those broken pass plays were mostly a result of them gouging is in the run game and a qb that did an amazing job scrambling around. That is not what we are going to see against WSU. I just see it as a better matchup for us but I definitely understand people being worried.Eh, the defense gave up 350 yards passing and over 200 yards rushing (15 to Tate) yesterday. Don't forget the "best practice" on Tuesday.Injury references are bad...also the dreaded players only meeting, second only to the AD vote of confidence, occurred. Might as well fire up the Mayflower Moving trucks....
He was asked about the injuries though, he didn’t bring them up. And sorry but having 3 of your top 4 receivers our, your starting kicker, backup kicker and starting punter out is pretty unbelievable lol especially when one of those starting receivers is clearly one of the best players in the county.Injury references are bad...also the dreaded players only meeting, second only to the AD vote of confidence, occurred. Yeah.....some type of bigger stronger faster talk......” we looked at tape reviewed position by position took a step back looked at our coaches and where we want to be “..... really identify who are leaders are try to get our team closer together this year “...... something like thatA great speech from MM?

This is what CU does....Start the season huffing and puffing and then start playing real teams and loseI’m in shock. 5-0 and we aren’t going to a bowl game. Unbelievable.
We don’t have to watch CU lose today. On a positive note..............?
Not on the OL, which is devoid of junior/senior talent and forced to rely on three freshman. That isn’t a leadership issue it’s a talent issue - none of the juniors/seniors will get a sniff at the NFL. The OL we thought would get better as they became juniors/seniors - Lynott, Haigler, Tonz, Kaiser - have not. That fact is holding everything else back. This current team is more talented but I think they are self focused and not team focused.
CU is a mid tier (maybe) P5 school where coaches come to end their careers
That 2016 OL had the freshman versions of Lynott and Haigler starting as the right side of the OL. Senior center with juniors on the left side. We went into this year starting 3 juniors, 1 senior and 1 freshman. I don't see how it's that much different. Maybe from the standpoint of having Irwin & Frazier at TE/H to cover up a lot of the deficiencies we're different since we don't have a big blocking TE this season. We're only starting 3 freshmen on the OL right now due to performance issues. Not on the OL, which is devoid of junior/senior talent and forced to rely on three freshman. We are thin because the 2014, 2015 and 2016 recruiting classes were bad. 2017 was very good. 2018 looks like it was ok.I am thinking we have paper thin depth. A few less Jimmy's and Joe's, then coaches that aren't creative enough to scheme the deficiency. The statement MM lives by "players make plays" is really true, but to go with that, the coaches have to give the player a chance.
2014-2016 we recruited in the 69-74 range based on 247s ranks. Basically like one of the better G5 teams instead of like a P5 team. It’s pathetic that this team cannot recruit top 6 classes to boulder when you compete against slc, Tucson, Pullman, Corvallis amongst others. Just absolutely baffling. Speaks to the boring crusty regime we have in place and only chev changes that. Too bad his oc ability leaves ton to be desired.

It’s always been MM’s staff management, and he’s paying for it. He somehow doesn’t have a solid coaching tree to pull from, or the ability to recruit from it if he does, other than to call Cutcliffe.
You can’t let burnouts sit on your staff because it’s easy. They make the difference. I appreciate the continuity aspect, but you have to able improve when/where needed.
Mac runs a functional program, which the previous 2 coaches couldn’t achieve. But that’s a sadly a low bar to clear. He’s never really taken that next step, and that’s why we’re at this point, imo.
