Bowl Games (other than ours) and associated silliness 2024 Plus the Playoffs

And that fix is gonna be handing the two most powerful conferences, that dominate everything already, that have the odds stacked in their favor and that have been allowed to design the rules the way they want, an even bigger advantage as those top 4 seeds will be all SEC/B1G in at least 4 out of 5 cases.

I don't think people want to hear it but CU's interests align better with those of Boise State than with those of the SEC or B1G as those in charge don't see a P4 and G5, but rather a P2 and G7.
It's about giving more air time and publicity for where ESPN and FoxSports have most of their CFB money invested. I guarantee that ESPN would have much preferred another SEC team instead of getting a 2nd ACC team. And the reason the Pac always lost out was that neither entity owned any of it. I will maintain until the end of my days that the Pac would have survived and thrived if it had screwed up everything it did but had changed a single move & sold half the ownership stake in PACN to Fox when it was offered.

No argument, but the P12 is history and the reasons for its ultimate demise have been discussed often enough.

I agree that CU's current interests are more in line with Boise State at the moment than they are in line with the SEC or the BIG. But there is no question that CU needs to angle for a Big Ten invite within the next couple of years, while we still have Prime. There really isn't much of a long-term future for CU football as a member of the Big 12. CU fits in really well with the current footprint of the BIG, and the academic mission of CU is a good fit with the BIG as well (that actually used to be consideration in regard to conference affiliation). I fully expect CU to be a member of the Big Ten by 2030.

That’s a good idea. We want best vs best.

If you replaced Arkansas' win over 4-7 LA Tech with a loss to 6-6 Vandy, yes, the Razorbacks would have a higher SOS.

CU's SOS doesn't depend on CU's won/loss record. CU's SOS is based on our opponents ' won/loss record and our opponents' opponents" won/loss record.

Last night, you called my point silly and unfounded. I asked you politely to explain what point you meant. My request is still open
So basically using that logic..... We should never play CSU again in football because they're an average team in a s***** conference?

The MWC #3 team just lost to the MAC #7 team. Tell me again about that stiff competition Ashton Jeanty faced.

(And yes I know the Bulldogs didn't face #3 Fresno State. Or #4 CSU.)
That's my team (when I am not cheering on the Buffs) and they did it without their QB who went into the portal to transfer to Illinois.

Case study on navigating this mess, though.

Right now, we're really in the same situation as before. SEC & B1G are to ESPN & Fox as Football is to ADRG. ACC & Big12 are as Basketball is to ADRG. Other conferences are equivalent to Olympic sports.

He wasn't spectacular but your true freshman QB and the rest of the team held up well. A lot of reason for optimism for next year for your Huskies.

As a part of this whole NIL, Transfer Portal mess it would be justice if NIU next season actually has the better QB. I saw some of Hampton (the starter who transfered out and he wasn't anything special when I was watching. Illini fans best not be hoping for much.

I feel like the SEC’s trying to change that narrative on basketball.

Money had to go somewhere, so the SEC plowed it into the other profitable college sport.

crazy idea. my late dad, CU law, MBA big Buff fan, total curmudgeon, heckuva golfer....railed against that in the mid-late 90's that the CU AD didn't take advantage in any strategic way of growing the AD when CU was winning the NC and one of the most on TV teams in the nation. Martini lunches at Dolan's, Friday ski days for admins....

Meanwhile, CU didn't have a central scoreboard at the CEC and paint scheme on the concourses were Fairbanks blue when Barney was the coach.

It’s crazy that USF is trying to run this type of offense with a D2 level OL and a D3 QB.

I haven't been paying attention to them until now, but these announcers really suck.

It's almost as if they sent out a memo. "Who is willing to miss Christmas with your family to go call a game in Hawaii."

Not a great game, sometimes not even a good game, but it was a fun game.

I think they would have had better if that was the approach.

It felt more like "we're laying off our worst announcers after this bowl season, but we'll send you to Hawaii as a parting gift."
