absolutely. And, I think that at this point saying he's never won a big game is borderline absurd.Surely you agree the next game will be a much bigger test than the previous two games.

you have high standardsNot really. I guess you can give him credit for winning two playoff games as a significant favorite, but his overall record against top 10 opponents is terrible. That is a valid narrative which has not changed.
Beating top 10 teams is the standard at a place like Penn State.you have high standards
you have high standards
Pretty sure that has nothing to do with the selection committee and everything to do with the rules in place for conference champs getting automatic byes.Seeds 1, 2, 3, and 4 all lost. Seeds 5, 6, 7 and 8 are in the semi-finals.
@hawg1 revered selection committee strikes again.

I'm also confident that will change this offseason because of this year.
If Franklin had his record at Northwestern, Illinois, or Syracuse he would be a legend.Of course the standards are high. Franklin is trying to break through into the elite tier of college football coaches. You accomplish that by winning championships. To win championships, you have to beat elite teams along the way.
As of now, Franklin has one Big Ten Championship and a handful of good bowl wins. Several top ten finishes, but none in the top five. If he loses against Notre Dame, the narrative does not change. He will have beaten Boise State and SMU while losing to Ohio State, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
Put it another way: no one is toasting Marcus Freeman this morning because he beat Indiana AND Georgia to reach the semifinals, the praise is for beating Georgia.
SMU and Boise?? Let's hold off on the won a big game until he actually beats somebody that matters.
My disdain for this Committee’s process is clear. Where you been?
Watching you still defend the committee's "process" for excluding FSU last season.
Can you imagine the playoff committee coming out and saying that…for real?Oh that's easy, anytime you combine the douchiest fan base with the coach with the most punchable face, you are automatically eliminated from the playoff regardless of your win loss record.
He dresses the bestGameday became unwatchable ever since Desmond Howard was added to the broadcast. The guy adds nothing of value to the show.
Arkansas says “hi”It doesn't matter if you have well heeled alums if they don't give a **** about football.
Speaking of dressing, the opposite. He dresses the best

I am absolutely sick of these college coaches going out in a poorly fitting, sleeveless or collarless or otherwise altered sweatshirt that looks like it came out of a discount bin at the local Goodwill.
They aren't Bill Belichick, they are supposed to be representing their team and their university.
I don't have a problem with sweats themselves. Prime and some other coaches wear them as a positive fashion statement. They make sense for somebody who is actively coaching on the sideline, outdoors in weather conditions, around a bunch of sweating athletes.
Just try to look like you have some pride in yourself, or at least have a home.

Not advocating for a return to suit and tie but nobody ever questioned if he was serious about the game or in charge.

Preach!thread jack to the subject of coach's attire.
ok!
but, going forward, I'm not going to be open to complaints regarding tangents to Strength of Schedule or the like.
let's not jump to conclusions re: spontaneous and unstructured. two of my all-time favorites are Pink Floyd and Steely Dan....
I like my posting the way you like your music - spontaneous and unstructured. Just connect with others in the moment and see what we create.

Don’t forget the two pens clipped in the collar. Makes me feel like I’m choking every time I see that. The worst look is the dry fit tee shirt on skinny fat Dan Lanning.
