Bowl projections

Lol I think you need to come to terms with the fact that they are going to play. Perhaps not the same amount as usual, but they'll play
Come to terms lol? I wouldn’t be upset if they play, I’d love it. I’m just not expecting it.

I think it's doubtful that Travis plays. His draft stock is pretty contingent on health and he hasn't really been the poster child for staying healthy in college. I do think Shedeur plays in the bowl game because it'll be his last game with his dad and finishing the season on a high note and hopefully double digit wins is important. However, I also think Prime will want to get Staub some reps since he's almost assuredly hitting the portal.

if I was a business using college athletes as celebrity endorsements under NIL, I'd likely see value in those players participating in a bowl game.

Saw a projection for South Carolina vs CU which would actually be a nice measuring stick for CU on how they fare against a middling SEC school.

I don’t care too much about winning the bowl. I don’t think that it impacts people’s impression of the program.

So not really a bad scenario to me but I see where you’re coming from lol
I think it does. We win our bowl game and that gives us 10 wins. Big time selling point for recruits, fans, media etc

I would not call South Carolina a middling SEC school.

I guess ultimately "You are what your record says you are" but, man, they have played a pretty difficult schedule and are basically 2-3 plays away from their best season EVER, and Sagarin has them at like 12th. They can play with pretty much anyone.

The bowl game result - in the grand scheme of things - doesn't matter one bit but when you consider the history of the program the last 2 decades and where we want to be I think it very much should for us. Especially if it's against a SEC or B1G team as that's the sort of competition this program needs to prove itself against when they have a chance to do so if they want to gain respect nationally and be given the benefit of the doubt if, for example, playoff selection ever comes down to a 10-2 CU team v a 9-3 SEC/B1G team.

When we get a chance to play against a SEC or B1G team, we need to embrace it and take it seriously.

Yes. Winning a bowl game is a big deal for this program and is a nice serving of crow for all the haters.

I don't see the Alamo Bowl passing on Colorado. The TV ratings, Travis and Shedeur, and they are spending a lot more than the other bowl tie ins for their bowl game and it's on ABC. They have the 1st pick and they made it clear, if Texas or OU is available, they are always choosing them regardless of record as they give them the sales, TV ratings, etc. No one in the Pac-12 outside of Oregon is getting big TV numbers and Oregon is in the playoffs. We are their only sound choice.

Bowl tie ins

As of right now, we are behind Oregon and Arizona State. The thing is, both teams are listed for the playoffs right now we are are 1st overall. Right now, we are tied with Wazzu. We are far ahead of the others. Cal, USC, and Washington. Oregon State can become bowl eligible beating Boise. Right now, the Pac-12 has 6 Bowl tie ins. If Oregon State doesn't become bowl eligible and two former Pac-12 schools get into the playoffs. That means only 5 teams can fill the bowl tie ins which is possible.

Top teams in the Pac-12 are

1. Oregon
2. Arizona State
3t. Colorado and Wazzu
5t. USC, Washington, and Cal.

Pac-12 tie ins

1. Playoffs
2. Alamo
3. Holiday
4. Vegas
5. Sun
6. LA
7. Independence
8. Random At large if needed.

Wouldn't mind playing USC and getting a win against them.

We can't play either USC team. One is listed as Pac-12 and the SEC only bowl tie with the Pac-12 is the Vegas bowl. Right now, Vegas picks 3rd. Meaning if Arizona State and Oregon makes the playoffs. Colorado isn't even available at 3 due to being top 2 and it's not even close especially if they beat OK State.

It's extremely unlikely the Alamo Bowl chooses Wazzu or Arizona State over Colorado. That's like choosing Tyrese Haliburton over Kevin Durant. Just not going to happen.

If Arizona State and Colorado misses the playoffs. They are the two plus Wazzu picks. It's just highly unlikely anyone chooses Wazzu over either school and ASU has almost no national presence. It's obvious who the Alamo would choose.
