Bubble Watch - Saturday 3/12

I caught Lunardi this morning on College Basketball Final and he implied that beating ISU today wouldn't be enough to get us in. Which may very well may end up being the case in the end, but I certainly wouldn't say we're out if beat ISU and lose to KSU.
 
I'm not feeling too good about our chances to get in if we lose to KState, although many of these games have already gone our way. All it takes is a team like Baylor or Georgia to have 1 upset, and they take our spot. Harvard could take our spot if they lose their play in game.

We're in a very very precarious situation. We got ourselves into this by losing against teams we shouldn't have lost to. We also got ourselves into this by beating teams maybe we shouldn't have beaten. Win a few more of both those types of games this week and we'll be golden.

True, but we aren't exactly alone there. Our worst loss, according to RPI, is to OU. Plenty of teams below there beat teams that will probably be in. Florida lost to Jacksonville. Old Dominion lost to Delaware. Yale beat both BC and Harvard. And St. Mary's has a loss to U. San Diego, who is at #317 in RPI.

We would definitely be in better shape if we won those games, but we're definitely not alone in that...

Harvard has no shot if they lose. NONE.

Ole espin Joe has wavered so much in regards to CU that he's beginning to look like a flag in the breeze.
 
Yeah I'm definitely not saying we're deserving of a spot. Our resume is basically that we have the ability to beat big teams. Our resume is: "We beat Texas, KState x2 and Mizzou, suck it!"


Hopefully they look at that record against the RPI top 50 and are impressed enough to overlook the rest of our pretty crappy resume. Also hope they don't look to closely at our wins.

We beat Texas when they were reeling (at altitude).
We beat KState before they decided to play like KState, our last second miracle win sparked their turnaround.
We beat Mizzou in the conference opener (at altitude) when they overlooked us, also come to find out they couldn't beat School of Mines on the road. Their only road win in the Big 12 came against ISU, and not beating ISU on the road is something only an idiot would do......

I still think we can play our way in, but I think as it stands now, we shouldn't be in. Even with this win over ISU. Unless the teams just above us suck even more (Tennessee, the Michigans, VaTech, BC, Marquette maybe)

Totally agree with your analysis. I've been saying for a week now that unless we beat KSU we're going to end up in the NIT. In fact I'm betting on hosting a game next week. It's hard to beat a team 3 times, let alone one playing as well as KSU has been

I would say yes. I'm still holding out hope that Okie State knocks Nebraska off the bubble, then beats Kansas and gets into the RPI top 50. Then when we beat them (again), we have 8 wins against the RPI top 50 (Texas, KStatex3, Mizzou, CSU, OKStatex2) and we're a shoe in. Done and done.
 
if burks goes on fire like i said in the other thread then we just win the tournament and dont worry about the guessing.
 
It's good that Okie State won. Nebraska wasn't gonna get in, but they were still lurking on that "Next Four Out" category
 
We absolutely must get our win and then have West Virginia put a hurting on Marquette tonight.
 
Need some help today.

Maybe Slade's Sooners will do us a favor by taking down Baylor.
 
If the stars keep aligning with not many big upsets in conf. tourneys and a few other bubble chokages already :)knock on wood:)....Buffs are in great shape to make the last 4 team play in game

Win tomorrow and they avoid that
