Bubble Watch - Saturday 3/12

Slade go back to pulling for us to join the mountain west.

We know that you think, its pretty much what ever the lowest expectation is for our team. I dont know if you hate getting your hopes up only to have them dashed, if you talk things down, and prepare for the worst so you can on be surprised or what your deal is, but it gets tiresome. LAst time we had a player of this caliber we made the tourney and made the second round, its basket ball one guy can make a team. Hell we rode David Harrison to the dance.

As for this year the talk will continue. Most of the board and a significant number of sports pundits disagree with your view about the team. Before the games yesterday espn ran an entire segment on the big-12 focusing on baylor, NU, and CU; comparing how similar our resumes were and comparing what we each brought to the table. The consensus was one of us would get in; they lost, we won, so the talk continues.

Neither CU, Nebraska, nor Baylor deserve to be in the NCAA tournament this year.

I'd love to see you fill in the tournament with the at-large bids.

You basically need to pick 15 teams among the following 22. Good luck justifying it if you leave CU out.

Alabama
Baylor
Boston College
Clemson
Colorado
Florida State
Georgia
Illinois
Marquette
Memphis
Michigan
Michigan State
Nebraska
Richmond
St. Mary's
Tennessee
USC
UTEP
Villanova
Virginia Tech
Washington
Washington State

Nobody should apologize for us getting into the tournament if we do because the NCAA has created all these mediocre teams being on the bubble by adding 3 more at-large bids. And even if they didn't add these extra bids, we'd still be looking at some very mediocre teams getting in because it's simply a down year. Major conferences like the SEC, ACC, and Pac all have a severe shortage of quality teams.

That's where your comment goes right out the window.....if you said "in any other year"....most definitely....but "this year" is probably the weakest bubble group in a very long time and as Nik stated, real hard to leave the Buffs out looking at the rest of the candidates

There's your teams. Out of the 15 that I think are in I think CU is about #9.

Obviously a win today gets us in (and out of the Dayton game) but I honestly believe we have already earned our spot.

Not bubble related, but in the ACC tournament tournament, Virginia went on a 20-2 run take the lead on Miami, and with 37 seconds left it was 53-43 UVA. Regulation ended 53-53 and Miami had 3 chances to win it. Unbelievable, now in OT

that sounds like the Louisville-Marquette game from earlier in the year, where L goes on a 25-4 run to close the game. wins by 2.

ACC tourney is always good.

Here's one that is bubble related: East Carolina is up on UAB at halftime 29-25. A UAB loss opens up the C-USA tourney. UAB was the regular season champ. We need UAB to win and then hope that C-USA is a 1 bid league this year.

There are 92 teams who have at least 20 wins, and have at worst a .500 conference record, as of right now. It will be an interesting year for the NCAA tournament selection show.

Georgia destroying Auborn....makes that 2nd conference game so important for lots of these teams that win the first one (like the Buffs)

How many of those are in conferences like the Big XII, though??

I don't think a 20 win team with a .500 conference record in the Big Sky, MAAC, SEAC or Patriot leagues are going to be of much concern to us...

20 wins is a meaningless stat on its own....with teams playing 30+ games. it's an old-timey stat that is meaningless outside cosmetics in today's world.

it's like in baseball, if teh MLB schedule went to 200 games, winning 20 wouldn't be the same W-l stat it was in the 162 game reg season.

UAB loses...which opens the door for UTEP or Memphis out of C-USA....don't think this hurts the bubble too much as although UAB was tops in the conference they were right on the bubble themselves and a loss to E. Carolina probably knocks them out of a real weak C-USA

Minnesota still had a bit of life as a bubble team. They're losing to Northwestern right now, which would put that to bed for good.

I'm not liking that UAB loss.

I still can't believe what I saw in that UVA/Miami game. Miami down 10 with 37 seconds, unbelievable

If I was a UVA fan I'd do some binge drinking and then, after I woke up from my bender, focus all my future fandom on lacrosse.

I maintain that this CU team doesn't belong in the NCAA tournament. They have a potential NBA lottery pick, in Burks, but that's about it. Losing at ISU, at OU, etc. shows me they're not NCAA tournament material. Obviously, I won't be upset if they make the tournament, but at the same time I will not be disappointed at all if they do not.

This team might do pretty well in the NIT - which would probably benefit them in the long run.

You were saying??
