New sound system next year it would appear. Really going to impress the 30k fans that will be at each game

To be clear, I’m not bitching about it as it’s obviously needed, but I wish the ADs priorities were in line with what wins football games. I’d rather watch a competent football team than have a good sound systemI wish people would refrain from pissing on good things because of the other stuff that's wrong and has them on edge.
I believe we have a lot more credibility when we bitch if we don't piss on everything they do.

For sure. But I think that having a sound system helps create a winning football team. Just like having a modern scoreboard now. Or, going back to Bohn, we didn't even have permanent lights at Folsom. We're so far behind that it all adds up with the image we present to recruits, their parents, HS coaches, students, fans taking in their first CU game, etc. When you're perceived as small-time, then you are small-time.To be clear, I’m not bitching about it as it’s obviously needed, but I wish the ADs priorities were in line with what wins football games. Improving the fan experience should always be a priority regardless of the current state of the team.To be clear, I’m not bitching about it as it’s obviously needed, but I wish the ADs priorities were in line with what wins football games. I know they aren’t playing at home, but you just posted in the game thread that you weren’t even going to watch most of the game today against a top 10 team. I’m guessing a new sound system next year will change your behavior in that regard.I wish people would refrain from pissing on good things because of the other stuff that's wrong and has them on edge.

Dude. You know full well this is lipstick on the ugliest ****ing pig around and it’s not going to change anything about recruiting or create a winning football program. For sure. Next, let's make sure all the rusty signs and horror show bathrooms get replaced by something that doesn't look like a decommissioned prison.
The best fan experience is a winning team and it’s not even close. The current sound system isn’t good but the experience at Folsom is still amazing with it when watching a winning teamImproving the fan experience should always be a priority regardless of the current state of the team.

Agreed Alabaster and so does most of Twitter....I wish people would refrain from pissing on good things because of the other stuff that's wrong and has them on edge.

The sound system was a priority when we won 10 games and then were 5-7 for three straight years and recruiting was on the up and up. Seeing as how we are looking at a 2 win season now, and seemingly have zero money to buy out our incompetent coaching staff or pay for a legitimate OC or OL coach, yes, the priorities have changed.Of course not.
But have we all been saying for years that the CU sound system needs an upgrade?
I remember a ton of complaints and wishes for this, even in threads where people posted what facilities enhancements were on their wish list.
So, we got what we wished for.
Reaction of some people: "Fvck you. The team sucks and you're worried about celebrating our Nike deal and improving the sound system."
We can walk and chew gum at the same time, folks. Things like apparel deals and sound system upgrades are significant positives. They're not winning, but they're part of the blueprint for creating a great program.

It’s like a family that can’t afford to put food on the table or pay the mortgage, but going out and spending $2000 on a 75” flat screen.Apparently, we are a cash strapped program that's having trouble rubbing two nickels together. At least that's the excuse that's being fed to us. And if so, we certainly can not walk and chew gum at the same time. If we're as poor as is being portrayed, then we should certainly dedicate what money we do have to the product on the field.
And for the record, I have never given a **** about the sound system in Folsom and never will advocate for its upgrade while we're staring a 2-10 season in the face.
Great post. And this is the damn problem with the department. It's become a "good ol boys former Buff club" where it's the cool kids hanging out living the high life while they disrespect everyone else and expect that they should be insulated from all criticism because they once worked or played for Bill McCartney (or worked or played for someone who worked or played for Bill McCartney). Who the fvck cares about the nerds in IT and AV? They're not important. They weren't on the sideline for brick games.Agreed Alabaster and so does most of Twitter....
Buffnik - couple things....1) You're assuming the system will be installed correctly and done on time lol. Two things that will not happen. 2) The legacy AV guys that keep the system we have working are on the way out as well as the younger more 'current' AV guy. Guess why? Because RG pays them and treats them like complete garbage. 3) the remaining lone IT guy is also currently working to leave the department 4) morale is pretty pretty low for the staff that has to actually run a gameday and get the real work done.
So RG has a dumpster fire larger than just football, and he's got a personal assistant tweeting photos of his dumb a$$ed Nikes and spending money on a sound system no one's gonna show up to care about if he doesn't fix the larger problems.
The fact his football program is statistically DEAD last in offensive production while he's tweeting Nikes should be a real flippin' eye opener as to what RG is focused on, and it's anything but what he should be.
The only point of my post is that screwing with the sound system at this point with a d!psh!t in charge of the department is lipstick on a pig. A really really ugly one.You know what?
Fvck it. Enjoy your bitching.
Let's do nothing until we can afford to fire everyone.
Then, we can hope we get lucky, land a future HOF head coach who wants to stay forever. Because any other efforts are going to be met with scorn from this fanbase.
Have fans ever decided to just watch the game on TV instead of watching at Folsom because the experience sucks? I have.I've never heard of a recruit not picking a school because the stadium sound system is subpar. Let's get our priorities in order.
Yup. That's how RG treats anyone not a former athlete, not a coach, or not a senior administrator with an 'Associate AD' in their email signature. The disgusting part is that filters down from there...most of his Associate ADs are similar.Great post. And this is the damn problem with the department. That happens a lot at every level, but mostly because the TV experience is way better no matter how good the sound system is at the stadium.Have fans ever decided to just watch the game on TV instead of watching at Folsom because the experience sucks? I have.
What things are you saying to invest in that win football games? That happens a lot at every level, but mostly because the TV experience is way better no matter how good the sound system is at the stadium.
I just don’t get it. Invest in the things that win football games and literally everything else will take care of itself.
Coaches and recruitingWhat things are you saying to invest in that win football games?
People have been bitching about the sound system for years - now they’re fixing it and people are still bitching. There is a lot that needs to be fixed - good to check one of those things off the list. Gameday experience is extremely important to the program. No one is pretending that this solves all our problems. That happens a lot at every level, but mostly because the TV experience is way better no matter how good the sound system is at the stadium.

And we can't do that too? Just freed up a lot of money by getting rid of an incompetent & overpriced OL coach.Coaches and recruiting
I already agreed it needs fixing, but it became a much lower priority once an incompetent coaching staff was given a fully guaranteed contract and proceeding to burn this program down.People have been bitching about the sound system for years - now they’re fixing it and people are still bitching. We got rid of an OL coach making $400k. We still have a HC making $3.4m and rising each year who has no clue what he’s doing and we are stuck with him for another 2 seasons because…. We don’t have enough moneyAnd we can't do that too? Just freed up a lot of money by getting rid of an incompetent & overpriced OL coach.
Recruiting is not actually underfunded. It's just mismanaged.
You can't fix that fully guaranteed contract. So no use yelling at clouds while getting pissed at them doing anything other than the thing they're unable to do because they tied their own hands.I already agreed it needs fixing, but it became a much lower priority once an incompetent coaching staff was given a fully guaranteed contract and proceeding to burn this program down.
RG wasn’t going to shelf the sound system so he could fire KD immediately so what are you expecting he do? Can’t go back in time and undo KD’s contract, or hire someone else so if we’re stuck with KD for at least another year or two, then I’m glad they are investing in the things they can fix now.I already agreed it needs fixing, but it became a much lower priority once an incompetent coaching staff was given a fully guaranteed contract and proceeding to burn this program down.
