Colorado RPI Watch

Friday, Nov 23rd games of note for CU:

Oregon @ #18 UNLV: Not only would this be a very solid OOC win for the Pac, but it would get UNLV out of the way so the Buffs can move even deeper in the top 25.

Arizona State vs. Arkansas (Las Vegas): This is a golden opportunity for the Devils to get a victory against an SEC opponent. Arkansas is nothing special, ASU has a chance here.

Wofford vs Hampton (Wilmington, NC): Wofford should win this with ease. Hampton is down, and that tough, well-coached Terriers team we defeated in Boulder needs to start picking up some wins for us.

I've been very careful to avoid too much negativity on the Pac thus far this season, but a loss by a top 4 (or top 3 if you listen to the media) Pac-12 team to the worst team in the MVC would warrant the full barrage of "Pac-12 sucks!!!" "Pac-12 is a disgrace!!" media coverage again. Sigh. Really don't want to have to deal with CU winning 13 or 14 Pac-12 games and having it mean very little in terms of national recognition thanks to the rest of the conference ****ing up like last year.

I'm totally fine with this scenario, personally.

I don't think we want to be like Washington last year going 14-4 and not Dancing...

Not saying that will happen, thanks to our solid OOC resume (already), but a pathetically weak Pac is bad for us even if we "dominated" it

Minnesota beat Memphis. That should move us up.

N. Arizona lost to Jacksonville State. That hurts RPI potential.

Stanford took out N. Iowa. Solid win for the conference.

That's two losses in two days for #19 Memphis now. They'll be out of our way.

Decent win for Stanford.

Hopefully Cal takes care of business against Georgia Tech tonight (this is a down year for the Jackets, Cal really needs to win this) and hopefully Arizona State and Utah can produce at least ONE win combined against their respective opponents, Arkansas and Central Michigan.

Wofford took care of business at Hampton, thankfully. That would have been an RPI killer.

Utah up 12 on Central Michigan, plenty of time left, though. ANY win is a HUGE win for Utah

As expected, Arizona State and Arkansas are in a really close game. 46-41 Sun Devils at the moment

Would be a nice little boost for the Pac if our *presumable* 10th and 12th teams could get these wins.

Arizona State beat Arkansas by 15. Arkansas is a bottom SEC team, but still, good win for ASU and the Pac. Sun Devils are 4-0 now, but haven't played anyone of note.

Utah beat Central Michigan by 16. Utes now 3-1. ANY Utah win is a good sign at this point. There won't be many more, presumably.

Oregon up 40-37 on #18 UNLV at halftime. This would be a solid marquee win for the Pac-12. In short, the exact type of wins we're lacking (with the exception of CU taking care of business in Charleston).

Yikes. Singler just fouled out. Tie game. looks like tuned in just in time for Oregon to lose.

Ugh. Not only would an Oregon win be huge in shutting up the MWC>Pac talk, but it would get UNLV out of our way to move up the rankings even more

Kazemi being eligible this year is HUGE for Oregon. Gotta say that Ben Carter looks better than I expected too.

Very nice win for the Pac-12. UNLV is still a bit of an unknown as they've only played 2 games, both against nobodies, but a road win like this is excellent for the Pac-12. The Ducks now will face #22 Cincinnati tomorrow.

The other good news, it gets #18 UNLV out of our way and moves the Buffs higher up in the AP (and into the Coaches)

:woot: not last year's pac 12 OOC.

Certainly looking much improved, hell, even Arizona State and Utah took care of business today. Let's hope Cal takes care of business against Georgia Tech (12 EST/10 MST). This is a mediocre at best GT team this year that Cal needs to beat if they want to show they can compete for a Big Dance bid.

That game on TV?

Georgia Tech was picked 9th in the ACC media poll, and from what I've seen from them so far, that's accurate. The Jackets are 3-0, but are struggling to score. They do, however, play some stingy defense (they've held their last two opponents, Presbyterian and Rice, to 38 and 36 points, respectively). In short, this is a game Cal needs to win in their home state

Arizona State will be facing #14 Creighton tomorrow. Wish we had one of our more marquee Pac-12 teams going up against Creighton, but I wish the Sun Devils luck.

who the hell designed it so Wisconsin vs Creighton wasn't the championship game in a 4 team tourney?!?

Yeah, an Arizona State/Arkansas and Wisconsin/Creighton breakdown for the semifinals? That's just downright stupid considering how much ASU and Arkansas are struggling these days. At least Wisconsin is now safely out of our way from overtaking us in the rankings.

Maybe they did the brackets alphabetically.
