CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

I don’t know why you think UCF is a clown show, they’ve had mostly winning 15 years. Not bad for a program that didn’t play a full d-1 schedule until the mid 90s. They have more major bowl appearances than BYU’s goose egg.
Because the wine and cheese snobs of the Pac cant stand being in the same conversation let alone conference as a commuter school. Cutting down UCF somehow makes them feel better about themselves.

Houston was SWC, fwiw. I know it is ancient history, but UH was a big deal in the late 70's under Bill Yeoman (creator, or at least early veer offense guy) and then had a lot of national run under Jack Pardee with the run and shoot (Andre Ware won the Heisman). UH won the old SWC title four times, and has had 5 10+ win seasons. They were Art Briles launching pad to Baylor. Not an all time great, but better than they get credit for.
We would take Houston in a nanosecond if they were available.

Commuter schools make everyone else in all other conferences feel better about themselves.

It was a commuter school. In the 90s. But it grew up and now has a huge on campus and campus adjacent population. Game day there is a good time. Their on field product has been entertaining since Bortles and O’Leary. I have only hazy memories of the Buffs last Fiesta Bowl, but i do have a VHS tape of the O-line synchronized swimming from the 1992-3 trip.

MWC pays about $6M per team per year. SDSU can always take a 1/2 paycheck in year one then 3/4 (if not full) in year two before a full paycheck in year three. Even a 1/2 payment will be at least double what they get in the MWC. Any G5 school will take that offer.
Again, the media company has to agree to do give more money even if its half. Its not a conference decision.

Or, each school can each cut part of its share of the existing and give it to SDSU to get them. The last time that came up it was a no vote to expand.

And they have that MNC.

I said at the time Frost left UCF that it was a terrible career move. There are better jobs than UCF, but Nebraska is not one of them. Pay is better, but much harder to recruit and win there plus you're trading a Florida lifestyle for a Nebraska lifestyle (which killed his marriage).

Interestingly, frost could have taken the UF job that same year. May have been a very different story for him, personally and professionally.

Frost would probably still be at UCF winning 8-10 games a year. Going home was a mistake.

I missed that trip. I was in the stands to witness the kicking disaster.
