Tini-lite, you can relax. It's been a fun year, but a short one. I've got the feeling our ranking, while earned, is a byproduct of the ****ed up schedule and the overall ****tiness of college football this year. We've been a decent team, but are we actually good? This game will tell us. I could see it going a lot of ways.
I'll look at it more as a reality check than a mirage if we get beat. As far as I'm concerned, the Buffs have far exceeded expectations this year. The worst they can finish is second in the south. They are guaranteed a winning record even if they lose every game from here on out. Certainly not the way anyone would want them to finish, but they have been fun (and frustrating at times) to watch. Proud of this team for their accomplishments.

We have also enjoyed the lack of cancelled games on CU’s part due to the vigorous adherence to COVID protocols by the staff and players. If nothing else, this group has shown strong discipline. That may also be a part of the success of the team on the field.
Oh and Coach Rod has the o-line rocking. May have to have some gumbo for the Utah game.

Suspect many folks are in the same boat, but I don’t see it that way. This has been such a strange year that I can’t really read too much into one game. We know there is still a lot of room to improve the talent and depth on this roster. We also know this coaching staff is pretty good at coming up with solid game plans and making adjustments (particularly with some of the injuries through the season). No mirage there, those things are pretty well established, I would say.
This is a great point. Colorado effectively dealing with COVID-19 while others haven’t has been a significant competitive advantage.
I agree. But this next game is a solid data point which will allow us to go off the deep end of positivity (5-0!!) or get the reality check that we've been barely avoiding.

Something to be said for winning games in different ways week to week. Arizona was a different type of win from UCLA.
The most complete and well coached team since the Barnett years, save for 2016.
Very true. I'm zeroing in on the team winning the last 3 games despite being tied in turnovers v stanford and then losing the battle against both SDSU and Zona.
To counter that positivity, our passing game has steadily devolved.
Not to mention, the UCLA and Stanford wins, as well as beating a decent SDSU team on 48 hours notice looks better every day.
One player out for tracing and zero? positives is exceptional. Given the stakes this team is playing for now, I don’t expect much slippage.
Mac used to say the mental is to the physical as 4 is to 1. Dorrell has the team believing in what they are doing. It shows up in things like minimal procedure penalties. Winning begets winning. Utah will be the biggest test so far but the experience this group has had so far will go a long way in carrying them to victory.

That’s a fair take.
Obviously coaching matters, but the leadership is clearly different this year with the players, especially as it pertains to one position in particular.
They've also won as underdogs and as favorites, with big leads and multiple score deficits, on the road and at home. I would have liked to see them against ASU at the very least. Don't think they have the dudes in the Secondary to keep it close with USC, but would have liked to see a better litmus test than what they've had to this point.
Utah will definitely be the best team we've played, but I don't think they've shown anything special.

I don't think we know how many positives there have been one way or the other over this season. We don't release that information. I'm just mad you mentioned it.
They don’t list those list those players as out due to virus? Interesting.
Only reason we know about Kutsch was a direct question to Karl after the game. We've had a lot of OL backups miss games for mysterious reasons.
Is it a mere coincidence that our passing game devolved once KD Nixon came back?
I’m probably finding problems where none exist, and I freely admit my anti KD bias, but it’s hard for me to not notice the passing game has gotten a lot worse with him playing.
The thing I like and fear about playing Utah every year is that there's no real secret about Utah. They do what they do, and you either can stop it, or you can't.
They're going to try to dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball, they're going to play solid special teams, and they're going to punch us in the mouth.
There's no air raid offense, no gimmicky defense, not a lot of trick plays. They just line up across from you and make you try to beat them.
This game will tell us a lot about coaching, it'll tell us a lot about our leadership, and it will tell us a lot about how tough we are.

This will be their fourth game of the season, I believe.
They got blown out by USC. It wasn't really much of a game.
They jumped out to a big lead that they couldn't hold onto against a mediocre Washington team.
They held on to their lead at home against Oregon State in a game in which OSU was missing their quarterback, and essentially their only offensive weapons.
Utah is typically a well-coached physical team, that could beat us, if they play better than they have so far this season. But I haven't seen anything scary about the 2020 Utes (I've watched all of their games) unless you want to count a bunch of cheap shots. Cover the tight end and **** those guys.
