I'm not the biggest Fu fan, but this timing sucks rocks, especially if Kill is gone too

Does he have a connection to bailer? I am guessing recruiting and support is slightly better, but seems almost like a lateral move to me.

Edit: Just looked at his bio and looks like he had a short stint at TCU and is from/played in Oklahoma.

Well, ****bailer could always go with Hawkins, MacIntyre, or, the unthinkable, a certain coach that used to be there. :D No way in hell that would happen even there.

Doubtful. College OC isn’t getting NFL HC offer.

The only time I can remember that happening is Al Davis pursuing Sarkisian (who told him no) and Kiffin (we saw how well that went) to coach the Raiders 10-15 years ago. This is the right move for Brady. LSU will be fine-Steve Ensminger is still there, and they're gonna keep that passing attack Brady brought in.

Why? What will he do that will be so interesting? Genuinely curious. This whole thing has every appearance of a poorly conceived publicity stunt.

I'm curious as to what you think of CSU hiring a guy who went 44-44 in the worst conference in the Power 5 (the only difference between the Pac 12 and the ACC is the ACC has a big dog in Clemson that the Pac 12 doesn't have) in Steve Addazio. I've told you this since that hire was made-This is a hell of a lot more interesting to me than them hiring Earnest Collins ever was. I went there-and the only UNC football game I watched on TV during his tenure (didn't feel like wasting the time or money going up there to watch them play) was their visit to Folsom in 2017.

As far as Rolovich to WSU since you opined on it in another post-let me say this: If they couldn't get an air raid type of guy (or Grinch with a guy who will run that system), he's probably as good as they were going to do. He's used to working with limitations, and he's an entertaining twitter follow (which is good in recruiting). I still expect to beat them next year, but he's going to do fine there. Hawaii's not as bad a job as some think. They get 7-8 games a year at home because people will go out there to get the extra game. They went 7-2 (which gets them a bowl game given they play 13 most years) which gets them to bowls. Will they ever be a Boise State or UCF type of gorilla in the Group of 5? No. Can they get to bowls/put winning records together consistently? Yes.

Well, there seems to be a disconnect on the QBs. They never even bothered really to get looks at the backups, which naturally led to most people believing there was some plan to bring in an outside veteran. Yet we are heading into spring with Lytle, Stenstrom, and Lewis as the only QBs and there is no indication that a grad transfer was ever a serious consideration. So it does beg the question why Montez was given free rein.

When were they supposed to look at backups? Montez first QB that will be drafted in 25 years, meaning toughest QB to beat out in that span. They were 5-7 last 3 years meaning they needed best to qualify for bowl.
I’m sure backups would have gotten more of a look if Apsay or Hansen were starting.

I read Joey McGuire, an AC for bailer, Andersen at Arky St., and Dave Aranda are the short list now for bailer.

We'll see.

I’m underwhelmed by the CSU hire. UH’s problems come from lack of admin support, horrible facilities, a ridiculous travel budget, and limited recruiting grounds.
None of that explains how UNC hiring a guy with two years of part time high school head coaching experience will translate into more wins. Unless it’s not their intent to hire a guy to win games. I would seriously question an AD who didn’t hire a coach with the idea he would win games.

You think Montez gets drafted this year? Really? I know he has the measurables. It’s the immeasurables where he falls painfully short.

They were 5-7 the last three years in large part because Montez never took it seriously enough to take the next step, but okay.

And when you get blown out in Oregon for example, playing Montez up until about 5 minutes left in the game helps no one. Again, if the backups are so bad you cannot even fathom replacing one of the worst QBs in the Pac-12 in 2019, why would you be only rolling with them and a true freshman for 2020? Something does not add up.

Then who do you hire if you're their AD? The only guy that comes to mind for me is Gregg Brandon. I'm not hiring somebody who coached previously or played in Greeley-they did that with Earnest Collins, and he lost nearly 3x the number of games he won. They can't go after the 8th-10th guy on a P5 staff because they don't have the money-For example, Michalowski (somebody correct me if I don't have this right) is the lowest paid assistant on the CU staff as far as I know, and he's making $225k or something close to it. That's 35k more than what McCaffrey is making. Could he be the next Todd Dodge (HS legend in Texas who got an opportunity at North Texas and flopped epically)? Sure. Are they any worse than they are now if he does? In my opinion, no.

I'm not going to disagree with you on Hawaii's issues-but I still think you can go to bowls regularly there. I'm also glad we agree on the HC Dude hire on Ft. Collins.

I don't really understand why people think it's so hard for your 2nd string QB to get live snaps: it happens at other schools all the ****ing time - and not just in blow outs. Although we rarely even see them in blowouts.

It's really not hard for a coach to say "we're going to put ______ in there for a few snaps or even a drive or two in most of our games this year." It's not a controversial thing to do, even if you have the second coming of Cordell Stewart as your starter.

How many games have you watched where the announcers say something like "we have a new QB for _______. This isn't really a surprise, because coach told us he was going to put him in for a drive or two in the 2nd or 3rd quarter." It happens so damn often, it's actually hard to remember specific instances.
