I’ll admit I was a bit jealous to see a program making coaching changes at the beginning of it’s bye week.I don't think he is a great AD by any stretch, but Alberts kinda killed it over the last 24 hours.

And they still got a moral victory out of that one.Firing Frost right now would have been hilarious given after ****braska tried to get out of this year's OU game due to money issues related to the COVID outbreak.

The Corn actually statistically speaking are the #2 ranked offense in the Big 10. Why didn't defensive coaches get fired? Such an odd situation. Makes me smile.
I don’t know what the all time record for turnovers is, but a 5th year Martinez has to have a shot at it.
His fifth year would be 2023 right? Seems like he's been there forever.I hate to throw cold water on this because it's such a good joke, but almost unbelievably Timmy Chang had 80 interceptions alone in his 5 year career at Hawaii, including 22 alone as a sophomore. I can't seem to find his fumble stats anywhere.
Adrian's going to have some work to do- his career total is 47 so far in 38 games (1.24 per game). Even assuming Chang never fumbled (unlikely), Martinez will have to bump that up to ~2.35 per game for the rest of his career.
I believe in him!
None of us know for sure what RG would have in his back pocket at any point in time. Maybe Rick's played poker before. Rick can definitely have a conversation that starts with "if you want more time, we need to restructure". Period. How many aces am I holding?Problem being that RG has zero leverage. Dorrell has no illusions of taking another job after this one and knows CU does not have the money to fire him (Alberts definitely had that in his back pocket).
Because that would be an admission by Frost that the side of the ball he was once deemed a wunderkind on, isn't performing when it matters. We've all seen his press conferences and heard his quotes. The last thing he will ever do is take the blame himself.2024 College Football Offense Total Team Stat Leaders - ESPN

Actually, they are 4th in the league, using points-per-game. But that includes Fordham, which is not a Division 1 program (whatever it's called now, FCS?).2024 College Football Offense Total Team Stat Leaders - ESPN

Frost is in a tough place. He either has to convince Martinez to come back for his final season (and there is absolutely no reason to think that Captain Turnover will be any different next year) or, he has to push out his first and most important recruit, and roll with a new QB (freshman or grad transfer). All with his job very publicly on the line.
Even Nebraska has a limit to the amount of money they are willing to throw at dumping a coach that isn't getting it done and dumping Frost now would be a huge price tag. Giving him another year makes a big dent in that price tag.I am sensing that ****braska is going to go full corn-fed power football or they are going to hire an OC to run the wishbone.
Frost was going to show the B1G a style of offense they hadn't seen (even though that was not true). He never had the speed-advantage that he had at UCF or that Oregon had 10 years ago when it actually worked really well.
CFB has moved to more power offenses and the likes of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota in their own conference are all pretty effectively running power. I'm pretty sure the AD is wondering why ****braska is trying to do something completely different than those guys and having crap results.
But much like many Buff fans, who still live in CoachMac glory-world, there is always pressure to go back 20+ years and do what worked then, so here comes the wishbone?
in before Jalapeno asks if the new QB would be better than the one they have.Even ****braska has a limit to the amount of money they are willing to throw at dumping a coach that isn't getting it done and dumping Frost now would be a huge price tag. Giving him another year makes a big dent in that price tag.
Alberts also has to deal with the reality that as bad as it has been there is still a significant element of the fanbase who considers Frost to be a ****er for life. The combination of the money and dumping a hero from the glory days may be more than Alberts wanted to deal with right now.
Now they are going to go with an entirely new offensive staff. Does this mean they are going to give up on Frost's promise to return to the glory days of ****er option football or does it mean they are going to double down and go even more that direction.
Problem is that the chances of either succeeding is slim to none.
****braska is no longer one of the high profile programs that can go out and pick up a 5* freshman QB who could come in an be the man from day one. The QB they have has proven that he doesn't have the ability to master the reads and efficiency throwing the ball to effectively run a modern pass oriented system while at the same time he has shown that his option skills aren't good enough to make up for the talent deficiencies they have.
The one other hope they might have is to find a QB in the transfer portal but who is going to come to a team that is losing at a ridiculous rate, that has an unproven offensive staff, that has a coach on a seat that is red hot, that is clearly talent deficient (much because of constant transfers out), and that has a history that says it will abandon any non-option offense when things get tough.
The biggest problem is named Adrian Martinez. Frost can't dump the one QB he has until he knows he has a replacement and a replacement isn't going to come if there is any chance that Martinez is still around with the history of Frost's allegiance to him.
Firing Frost right now would have been hilarious given after ****braska tried to get out of this year's OU game due to money issues related to the COVID outbreak.

Adrian's 5th year is 2022. Remember his very first game as a true freshman in Lincoln against the Buffs in 2018? And if you are ever feeling a little blue, just peruse the Huskerboard fansite. They are eating their own children over there. His fifth year would be 2023 right? Seems like he's been there forever.
I trolled over there after 2018 but stopped after we beat them again in 2019 lol.Adrian's 5th year is 2022. Remember his very first game as a true freshman in Lincoln against the Buffs in 2018? I've never posted there, but occasionally lurk during particularly difficult Corn times, which happen often lately. They really do have some talent (especially up front on defense--see the recent Ohio State game), but just cannot get it done. The issue is coaching from the top down.I trolled over there after 2018 but stopped after we beat them again in 2019 lol.
They were going to dump him for behavior. There are lots of rumors around Lincoln and I’m sure some of that was in the discussionCompletely at a loss for what Frost was thinking here- he reduced his salary AND the buyout?
What the **** was ****braska gonna do? Fire him and pay $20M this year or $15M next year? Now he's laid out the red carpet for them to fire his sorry ass next year at a greatly reduced buyout. ****ing idot.

Wow! CIU lost 11 of their first twelve games last year. They were improving but still pretty bad. Looking at the box scores is interesting.
