Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

He grew up in Brazil? Wow! Must’ve been Southern Brazil. And he was the number one draft pick in the PBR draft, drafted by the Florida Freedom? And he’s the youngest cowboy in PBR history to top $1 million? Dayum! Not the rodeo I grew up up with!
Dad (Paulo) grew up in Brazil and moved to the US to pursue bull riding. John was born in Texas.

He was born in the U.S. then his family moved back to Brazil. He moved back to the U.S. when he was in the 3rd grade. Seems like an awesome kid.

Yeah, Trav shouldn’t be one of the top donors. Makes it sound like we are really struggling for funds.

Makes sense but being a donor is tax deductible right? So in that case, what is a better way to do that than supporting your own teammates?

Lot of good cowboys from South America.
One of my favorites is Junior Noguiera, roper from Brazil. We went to a couple of the National Finals Rodeo performances in Vegas last week. Junior and Kaleb Driggers finished 3rd/4th in the world as team roping heelers/headers, respectively, and Junior finished 3rd in the all around. Pretty humble guy. He won just about every roping competition in Brazil before coming to America 10 years ago.

RE: Travis's fiancee. People need to leave them the hell alone. Nobody knows what their relationship is behind the scenes - that's their business. It's silly to speculate and even worse to disparage her on social media, which I see way too much of.

I think Travis’ GF has been “caught” in a couple of camera shots where she “appears” to be sort of disengaged. That’s really unfair. In her video she comes across as a bright young lady.

And these are kids for Christ’s sake. The spotlight is something she has little experience with. She’s drinking from a fire hose. It has to be a bit overwhelming.

Are donations to Texas One Fund tax-deductible?

The Texas One Fund has been granted tax-exempt status as an organization under the Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and continues to operate under its IRS approval. However, we encourage donors to consult a tax professional regarding the tax deductibility of donations to Texas One Fund. IRS approval is linked below. Please note that Texas One Fund is the successor entity of Horns with Heart, Inc. in conjunction with the merger of other nonprofits. Any nonprofit contributions may also be made to Horns with Heart, Inc. which can be received and credited to Texas One Fund, Inc.

"Celebrate Travis Hunter’s historic Heisman Trophy win, see the trophy up close, and send the football team off to the Valero Alamo Bowl during the CU men’s basketball game against Bellarmine this Saturday, Dec. 21 at 1 p.m.

Pregame, Travis will warm up on the court in a pregame shootaround and will be honored with the trophy and a short presentation before tip. At halftime, the entire football team will take the floor for a final send off before they head to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28.

Meanwhile, the Heisman Trophy will be on display in Boedecker Gym for photos with fans starting at 11:30 a.m. The trophy will also be on display that evening when the women’s basketball team opens conference play against West Virginia beginning at 6 p.m.

Take advantage of the HE12MAN ticket special, in tribute to Travis, with reserve bench tickets available for the men’s game for just $12 and two for $12 tickets to the women’s game."

Oh, how I wish I could be there.

I think it’s the practice gym attached to the CEC.

Anyone have a link to the ticket special? For some reason I didn’t get the email

Approval in principal /= approval in practice.

Meaning they filed the right forms and wrote the right words, but... we'll see what happens when the audits come down.

There is simply no way anyone can argue with a straight face that these donations should be tax deductible under any reasonable interpretation of the tax code.

Now, if Trump does eviscerate the irs again, it might be a while before they get to the audits, but they'll happen eventually.

Young people in their position either need to not have social media, or they need to have a PR person look over what they post. The "her side" video she posted sounds like it was ill-advised.

Why? Has she been getting repercussions over it? I thought it was fine but I’m an old guy and don’t get social media etiquette and protocol and all that. 😆

When I see Travis on Twitch or generally see the well off videos I constantly think two things about most players

a) it’s an entirely different generation from mine, one that’s grown up with YouTube, Instagram or Facebook from a very young age

b) they’re still very young and in some cases very much in a transition phase from teenager or child to young adult and there’re certain things you only learn as you get older.

Well, I mean from a SM point of view, whatever you post is going to have idots screaming at you and then idots screaming at them and whatever. Unfortunately now I guess regular media has gotten hold of it now though and it's exploded.

It's so dumb but this is the age we live in.

Best advice to her is to just ignore the noise, don’t react and lay low. This too shall pass.

Is there a different email blast for basketball specific? I didn’t get the email either.
