Travis Hunter Appreciation Thread (Awards: HE12MAN, Walter Camp, Biletnikoff, Bednarik, Lott, Paul Hornung, AP PotY)

I didn’t get that popup or whatever it is when I selected seats. Do I have to select specific seats?
Yeah it’s the reserved bench seats (sections 4-11 and 19-23). It’s 14.50 with fees, automatically applies the discount (when you select a seat it says “He12man)

Travis and Shedeur’s numbers get retired, right?
As long as you mean retired in a celebratory way but not a true retirement. There are too many players to take a couple numbers out of the available pool. But I think putting a patch on the numbers that are retired for anyone that wears them and then putting up a special symbolic piece in the stadium for them

They should also do locker installs for the honored players numbers next to the player who wears that number. I love things that connect a player to program history and sets a standard they feel obligated to uphold.

Like, if you earn #2 as an offensive player then you're reminded that you're representing Shedeur's legacy as a Johnny Unitas winner and if you're wearing #2 as a defender then you're representing Jim Thorpe winner Deon Figures.

My favorite line from all the anti Travis people is “the award has been devalued now” like, ok buddy, I’m sure whoever wins it next year is going to feel less accomplished because Billy Bob from Idaho thinks the award lost meaning.
it's also gonna be like a QB who throws for 3,300 yards, 30 TDs, and 8 picks on an 11-1 team. like, wow! unprecedented

Is there a different email blast for basketball specific? I didn’t get the email either.
It was from:

Colorado Athletics

"Official email of the CU Athletic Department"

I think there have been a couple of times when I've received emails that others here didn't get. I don't know why I'm on this particular email list.

I think Ralphie's replaced Harpo's, but didn't last long.

We watched CU lose to Hawaii in one of those late night games there. 2011 I think
Have a friend who explored that location to expand his business and the deferred maintenance on the floor to ceiling windows was several hundred thousand dollars, and that was before getting the deferred maintenance in the kitchen. And apparently the city won't let anyone tear that building down and start over because it's in the flood plain. Sorry for the threadjack of Travis's thread.

I DON'T CARE WHAT THE CITY SAYS, WE'RE GONNA TEAR THAT **** DOWN TODAY!

Oh, hold on...I think I pulled a hammy. Nevermind.

So a MWC school, whose best win was a loss to Oregon, that had a running back that did what many running backs did, but not quite as well and against significantly less competition does NOT devalue the award?

Though a kid, who was a perfect 5-star recruit out of high school, that flipped from a blue blood to a HBCU school yo be coached and mentored by arguably the best ever to do it at his position(s), playing nearly every snap of every game he’s played in since freshman year, doing stuff that nobody has done before. Incredible athleticism, mentoring others in his position group. Requesting the ball in clutch moments. Helping to lead a program from 1-11, with absolutely no shred of hope to a 9-3 season, and nearly to a CCG and CFP appearances (but were shut down due to near-super conference tie breaker BS) in two seasons.

Travis and his teammates and coaches left both schools they’ve both been a part of better than when they arrived.

The Heisman will never be as valued of an award as it was awarded last Saturday evening.

Some nice comments from Nelson Spruce. I didn't realize he held most of CU's receiving records. He thinks TH has room to improve.

“It’s obvious his athleticism is on a different level,” Spruce said. “I think that allows him to do what he’s doing on both sides of the ball. To me, I guess the amazing part is I think he is so athletic that he can rely on a lot of that and I think he still has a lot of room for improvement, especially on the offensive side of the ball, just viewing it from a receiver’s perspective.”

Spruce was a technician as a route runner, and that allowed him to set CU records for most receptions in a game (19), season (106) and career (294).

“Any success that I had really came in the details and the polished route running, understanding defenses and stuff like that,” Spruce said. “Because of (Hunter’s) athleticism, he might not have had to tap that much into it. Watching a lot of his routes, you don’t necessarily see the nuanced route running, or even the need for it, because he’ll just out-jump you or out-run you.”

That’s not a criticism from Spruce. More so, he marvels at the fact that Hunter has shined without that aspect of the game as a receiver, but believes Hunter will only get better. And, Spruce is impressed that Hunter has been so good as a receiver while also shining on defense.

“I remember playing both ways in high school and that was pushing it,” he said. “When I got to college, the way you feel at the end of those games, just playing one side of the ball, it’s insane that he’s doing it full time on both sides of the ball. I couldn’t imagine it.”
Fun Fact: Spruce ended his Colorado career as the PAC-12 all time leader in number of catches. The record has been broken since.

Azars Big Boy.

I was hoping that someone would respond as such. No one believes me when I tell them there was an Azars Big Boy there.

Not only was it there, it was there for a long ass time. At least 20 years. The senior prank at BHS typically involved stealing the Big Boy and hanging it in the BHS courtyard.
