2013-14 CU MBB SOS Watch (OOC & Pac-12 Opponents)

UCLA up 10 with 2:41 left.

They are such a skilled offensive team that they're able to match teams basket for basket without expending much energy. Then all it takes is for them to turn up the defensive pressure a bit to get some stops & steals and it's game over. That will bite them against the top teams, but it's pretty impressive. Dangerous, dangerous team. Like "Final 4 dangerous" if Alford can get them to care about every defensive possession when showtime comes around.

Know we hate CSU, but Eustachy has them scrapping. In a down year for the MWC, CSU can win some games as can Wyo. Of course AFA will be dueling with the likes of SJSU to not finish last, but I think CSU and Wyo can each post winning records in conference play

despite being down last year they really had Arizona's number. They won't be winning the Pac in the regular season but they are not a team anyone is going to want to face come tournament time. That's a 5 seed I wouldn't want to **** with as a 1 in the Sweet 16

Wednesday, 12/4, games we care about:

Harvard is at Northeastern

UT Martin is at Samford

Harvard better be careful. Northeastern has beaten Georgetown, lost to Florida State by 2, and hung with VCU until the final minutes with a very misleading final score due to foul shots in the last minute.

Harvard and UT Martin both won.

Thursday, 12/5, games:

Air Force hosts South Dakota

UT-Martin winning a game, and a road game at that. Holy ****. And that's a tough Northeastern team Harvard beat on the road.

Need AFA to beat South Dakota..

Nice to see AFA get a win tonight.

Friday, 12/6, games:

ASU is at DePaul (Blue Devils whipped the Sun Devils in Tempe last year)

OSU hosts South Carolina

Baylor plays Kentucky in Arlington

Cal is at UCSB

Cal had better be careful.

ASU *should* win at DePaul.

Okie Lite should cruise, we'll see if their struggles continue

Baylor has a shot against Kentucky

Cal falls to UCSB 72-65

Cal's an absolute mess right now. And the worst part about it is that they'll go into conference play with a **** RPI, but they've got talent and Monty is a great coach so they'll end up putting bad losses on teams.

It seems to be a habit of theirs to struggle OOC. They went into conference play without a single decent OOC win last year as well. In fairness, though, UCSB on the road is a major tripwire.

Major boost to CU's strength of schedule tonight with Baylor taking down Kentucky.

Maybe this result will be a wake-up call to the CU fans who have been bitching about that loss as if it was a bad one. Yeah, we lost a neutral site game in Texas in an opener that saw 5 of the 9 players in our rotation getting their first action as freshmen. Had an awful shooting night and got very little bench productivity. But from that night, we've had way too many of our fans knocking the team this year. I guess Kentucky isn't very good now.

Quick look at Real Time RPI:

Baylor's win bumped them up to #2.

It also bumped CU up to #9.

bailer will contend for the bigTex conference. Not sure they can unseat the gheyhawks or okie lite this year, but they should do no worse than 3rd (yes, I think they can beat out the 'clones for #3). They will also need to bring their A game in road games at uTerus and against the boomers -- a team getting solid contributions from Hield, Hornbeak, and Spangler, 3 players CU was recruiting. With that in mind there's only one other point to make. f*ck bailer

BIG f-ing Saturday. Don't remember being this jazzed about a basketball weekend in the fall. A huge chance for CU to get some RPI boost, and of course they can give themselves a little help too.

Awesome. That baylor win over UK makes our loss there that much better (though still inexcusable)
