2013-14 CU MBB SOS Watch (OOC & Pac-12 Opponents)

Iowa and Indiana postponed.

A piece of the facing on a beam in the roof of Assembly Hall fell and damaged a bunch of seats. They are getting structural engineers to assess the damage and determine structural stability. Game has not been rescheduled.

Wow. One would think Indiana basketball could afford a structurally sound arena.

f***ing liberal arts school. It's going to take at least two hours for the guys to get there from Purdue.

We've got a few tonight that we care about:

Kansas is at Texas Tech. On now, no tv. Would be another solid win. Up 23-16 at 7:10 in the 1st.

CSU hosts Boise State. 7pm, ESPN3. CSU can get a quality win.

Georgia at Tennessee. 7pm, ESPN. Game of the night for us. If UGA can win, our win gets even prettier. Plus, this would knock Tennessee off the bubble.

Wyoming hosts Fresno State. 7pm, ROOT. Important game for the Pokes to cement a Top 100 RPI.

Another game I'll throw in for tonight: #15 Iowa visits a struggling Indiana. Iowa is way over-rated in the polls and are only #48 RPI. They lose this and they may be on the wrong side of the bubble despite the national perception.
I said elsewhere that if Iowa is a top 15 team, then we should at least be ranked. Almost the same record, but we've played a better schedule. B1G continuing to get too much respect in the polls.

B1G teams beat up on each other and people say, oh that's just because the conference is so strong. Cough... Nebraska is going to have a winning conference record... Cough.

Pac 12 teams beat up on each other and people say, well the conference still isn't very strong.

Its all those HIGH scoring 52-48 games that keep the MidWest writers enamored with that B1G crap basketball!

Wednesday, Feb 19th... **** gets real

Colorado hosts Arizona State. 9pm, ESPNU. Standing in Top 4 of Pac-12 and Top 25 RPI on the line. Revenge for 2013 slugfest.

Elon @ UNC Greensboro. 5pm, no tv. Elon tries to get to 16 wins at 12-15 UNCG. Road win could get the 145 RPI in striking distance.

Oregon hosts Washington. 7pm, ESPN2. Ducks can get themselves solidly in RPI 50 with a rivalry win.

#4 Arizona @ Utah. 8pm, FS1. Zona can keep that #2 RPI and help make Saturday a big ass national game.

#23 UCLA @ Cal. 8:30, PACN. Bruins can help the Buffs in the conference standings in this one.

SIAP, but Nance (Wyo's leading scorer) tore his ACL.

That sucks for him, but also for us. Wyo was climbing up the RPI charts and now they'll be struggling to stay top 100. GA has moved into the top 100 and Baylor is back in the Top 50. Cal and Stanford moving up and safely in the Top 50. Harvard hanging on at 54.

Oregon up 5 on the dawgs.....not sure who to pull for here. I'd rather oregon not get hot with the favorable schedule they've got remaining.

Oregon has so many losses that they aren't catching us, not with us holding the tiebreaker. So might as well have Oregon be a good win for us (39 RPI now)

UCLA up by 12 at half in Berkeley

Arizona wins at Utah 67-63 in OT. Cats now 24-2 (11-2), Utes fall to 17-9 (6-8)

UCLA manhandled Cal 86-66 in Berkeley. Bruins now 21-5 (10-3), Cal falls to 17-9 (8-5)

Elon got itself a nice road win for #16.

Buffs are #25 on Real Time RPI. Zona comes in at #2 on Saturday.

Thursday, 2/20, games we care about:

UT Martin hosts Tenn Tech.
Arkansas State hosts TX-Arlington.
UConn @ Temple. (Temple got an upset recently. We could use another. UConn right behind us in RPI.) 7pm, ESPN2
Washington State @ Oregon State. (Probably want Wazzu since we played them twice.) 7pm, PACN
UCSB hosts CU Riverside.
Gonzaga @ BYU. (We want BYU here. Zags are 1 spot ahead of us in RPI.) 9pm, ESPN2
USC @ Stanford. (Definitely want USC to pull one out of their asses. Beat them twice and would be great for Pac-12 standings.) 9pm, PACN

Don't sell us short, Nik. We're 23! Were 22 but Gonzaga just squeaked past us

21 Texas 20-6 0.617528 0.5748 Big129-4
22 VA Commonwealth 20-6 0.617157 0.5599 Atl108-3
23 Gonzaga 22-4 0.616191 0.5384 Wcc13-1

24 Colorado 20-7 0.615821 0.5797 Pac129-5
25 Connecticut 20-5 0.613660 0.5578 Aac8-4

Does it matter that much? I figure one of those two teams are going to win the WCC, and I'm thinking its going to be Gonzaga.
