2024 Game 1 Official Thread: NDSU @ COLORADO on ESPN at 6

This is not meant negatively at all:

Watching the replay just now, I noticed (8:22 left in the 1st half) that BJ Green has fairly large symbols burnt into his left upper arm. That causes really serious pain, and this is one tough man.
That’s very common for guys in a certain fraternity. Half the team in 1989 had that. Definitely a painful initiation which also includes getting your ass kicked (according to a former co-worker of mine who was in the Wyoming chapter).

So he was the 2nd best tackler, best pass rusher, and 7th best run defender (assuming I got each category correct). Seems like his overall grade was essentially tanked by his coverage grade, which I assume was skewed from the first drive blown coverage.

Doesn’t seem like his day was quite as bad as you and others are making it out to be.
The defensive grades Corey posted above puts him as the 19th best defender on defense last night. Obviously, those stats don't tell the whole story. However, he struggled at some crucial times I thought, especially in pass pro and those stats back it up. I don't think that is a horrible take or somehow "hating" on Trevor.

Get used to seeing many more fans of the opponent coming to Boulder now that CU is back in the Big 12.
Remember, they are much more engaged in football than the majority of the PAC12 schools.
Except for Stanford, since all of their grads live in Boulder.

@Passerby don't be a bitch and come eat your crow
What crow? I had 9.5 plus the BISON put down $220 and got back $420. I also put $100 on the money line for NDSU finishing with $320 and $100 clear profit. Didn’t bet the O/U. I also watched NDSU pound the Co team for 4 qtrs. While the buffs threw cheap shots and committed a lot of pass interference, It was a big game because NDSU was there. It remainders a big game because NDSU was the giant killer and Vo repution took a hit. The buffs passed well but good luck the rest of the way. Here is what your next opponents have to say.

Cheap shots?
NDSU held pretty much every play, but no biggie, we adjusted and held you to 6 points in the second half
NDSU was amazing in so many ways, great coaching, good traveling fans, etc
All that equals a LOSS
If Jimmy Horn catches the crosser, that is +7 for the Buffs, and the QB run TD late is a terrible Defensive call, and that is -6, likely an 18 point win
Good for you on your bet, now GTFOH

I’m pretty sure Passerby is Nub pretending to be a Bizon.

Does it make you sad that your team played their best game, made no mistakes, had the refs on their side, and still lost?

I know what it shows but as I said in my post, he was either at the top or upper third of defensive players who played in every category except pass coverage, which was likely skewed by one blown coverage on the opening drive.

He obviously isn’t great in coverage as a LB just as he wasn’t as a S, but going straight man across the board wasn’t great, either. Adjustments were made at half time and they gave up 6 points in the 2H.

I think that is fair and don't want to push it any further. He is ok in certain areas but think he is a huge liability in others. Let's hope he keeps improving

I don't think Mara is as good as we need and yes could eventually cost us a game.

That said on a couple of his kicks yesterday that were low wobblers it looked as if the snaps weren't great resulting in less than ideal holds.

Whole placekicking game needs to get better.

We joke about "college kicker" but the chances of it being us on the losing end because of it are more than I like.
I could not see the holds. Maybe that's true but he have never gotten good height on the ball since he has been here. If you don't have 50+ range in Boulder you are below average for sure.
