2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

Good Get for Louisville. Has anyone seen if we are looking for DBs? I would think we need a slot DB and at least one more to come in and add some depth. Currently aren’t we sitting on RS Freshman at DB in the 2 deep?

I think as with last year, about every position is basically on the table. Open competition. McKinney and Colton Hood were great, but we will get some DB transfers as well. With 9 wins, the awards, and all the continued exposure, CU will go after more talented/highly touted guys, however they will also try to fill with quality depth and role players too. Initially, Phillip Houston and Harden looked more like depth pieces, yet they won out and started. This year the best guys seemed to always find the field or a role even while making changes as the season evolved. Compared to many ranked teams, we played a ton of guys last year. Our all world LB from FSU Lundy that either briefly signed or had interest but returned to FSU, turned out not to be all world.

IMO, we can never have enough great Dline, Oline and LBs. Prime and Co. will go after the best players that they properly scout/vet and sign at any position. I'm sure we will get a few WRs and maybe 1-2 TEs. Prime and Co. want quality and hard work up and down the roster.

Hoping he’d choose to at least play in the bowl game. We all thought he was gone no matter what, just wish he’d decide to enter the draft instead of portal. If we can find him at the absolute end of the spring cycle last year we’ll be able to find more starting caliber Linebackers. Sucks to see this though

Once you enter the portal you are no longer a part of your previous team's roster. He's gone and won't play for us anymore. It's all screwed up. We're seeing it with depth on playoff teams leaving their squads because the timing of college free agency means if they stay they limit their opportunities.

We were all told and shown charts that said he was done with college?
He walked on Senior Day, does he have elgibility?
I always thought he was fully out, but with today’s news I went to check his espn profile and it looks like he’s actually only played 3 full seasons. His freshman year was in 2020 so that year didn’t count towards anything either.

The timing for CFB is awful. With the bowl/CFP timing, and January enrollment deadlines, it's a mess. And players don't want to wait and be left without a seat when the music stops.

That is technically not true. It's supposedly at the coaches discretion on whether a player in the portal can play in his original team's bowl game

An interesting wrinkle to keep in mind is that players who have entered the portal can still play in bowl games. This trend may become more common with recent developments of NIL and revenue-sharing.
