2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

I've gotta ask, is anyone else underwhelmed with this portal period so far or is it just me? Seems like the talent level we are bringing in (with some notable exceptions) is below the level both expected and Indicated by Prime. I know he said about some of the players are in the playoffs, but i dunno. just feels suboptimal so far. Obviously there is time to improve the class and it would only take a couple of players here and there, but yeah
My sentiments exactly. I also don’t like our transfer heavy approach to recruiting. I’d like to see more commitment to HS recruitment.

When you will accept that the entire recruiting landscape has changed. This isnt just our approach
I do accept that the recruiting landscape has changed. I’m not a recruitnik so I’m probably wrong and maybe spoiled from the previous two classes, but, while this years combined class is Top 25 I was hoping for even better.

I guess, on the bright side, is that in three short years Prime has made me spoiled. 🤣

A couple preps they felt good about/had commitments from that ultimately went elsewhere (Michael Carroll, NOB, Alex Graham to name a few) would have vaulted the class into the top 15-20. Beyond that, there’s a major NIL/funding difference between CU and the top 10 in the country

That's not really what you said but okay

I don't think anyone is sure any more. Is it worth it to add people to your roster who you don't expect to be competing for the 2-deep that year? It used to be the norm that about a quarter of your roster fit into that category with it being half the guys in certain position groups like OL.

Does it work in this era to have a significant portion of the team being told that their job that year is to train hard, work on mastering techniques and assignments, and give a great look in practice to the guys who are playing? Can you keep those guys happy for a couple years before it's their turn when there is an opportunity to play immediately somewhere else and get paid to do it? In this environment, can you afford to sign more than about 15 preps? I don't know. Maybe it's easier to keep them from being disgruntled than it is a transfer signing who doesn't earn PT immediately.

That’s the conundrum that I’m struggling with.
