2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

You can't line up stats like this. None of our guys got close to 100 carries let alone over 200, so who knows what number they might have put up in the same type of season. Plus, it was against AAC competition so there's that.

FWIW, I'd take Hughes for Hayden.
1,401 yards, 5.3 YPC and 15 TDs is impressive at any level. Our four guys combined had 849 yards, 4.1 YPC and 10 TDs. Yeah, part of it was the line and Sheduer’s desire to pass on every down, but I don’t know how anyone (I don’t mean you) could watch our running back rotation and think, “Nah, no upgrades needed.”

But our RBs were running behind our lines. Could our RBs have run for 5.3 YPC and 15 TDs behind their line? Nobody has any way to answer that question.

The nature of the portal these days is throwing everything off. Many players are playing wait and see. My son knows players at Illinois and Utah State who are trying to decide what to do and their heads are absolutely swimming having to analyze what their coaches are telling/projecting for them next year, the numbers/quality of players at their same position in the portal that they are up against, what other schools are telling them, what their family is telling them, what deals they might get, getting ready for bowl games, etc.

I think once games are done, the portal will absolutely explode again with some incredible talent.
That's not happening in a bubble though. Feelers are out thru the agents. Staff would know who's thinking about entering, and who's interested in CU. What the asking price is looking like... What their motivation is, what they bring.

So I think what you are saying is:

So many of these NIL rich teams are just paying a slight premium to stash guys as depth. Not saying Amos would have been good here last year, but he would have at least played/started. I don’t even think he cracked the rotation at Ole Miss last year.
Got on the field for 9 plays for Ole Miss.

It's pretty obvious that the RB's weren't the issue. Like someone posted look at the 15-20 percent reduction in yards per carry from every back who came to CU and that's all the data you need to know that the Passing Game was options 1,2,3,4 and the running game was option 5. From a continuity standpoint I'd bring all the backs back if I could and I didn't see some amazing difference between any of them to say Hayden couldn't be RB1 to start next year.

OL will be better overall
Shurmur needs to fully control the game plans
Under center now and again would be nice

Not sure what you’re watching. Hayden isn’t even the best back on the team. CU should add a RB every cycle, and they didn’t recruit a prep player.

Next year, there will be less audibles out of runs as we don't have a #1 Draft Pick playing QB + the nation's #1WR (who simplifies the field for the QB). Agree with others, a team can never have enough good/great running backs. The same with other positions. Each guy unusually brings something different.

Hayden better increase his quickness/explosiveness, because if not he’s gonna be RB3 or lower. Dude drags azz to the LOS.

Isn’t the transfer deadline today?
I looked it up and learned something.

Players can enter the portal through December 28th, but...

1. Graduate transfers can enter at any time; and,

2. Players participating in postseason have 5 days from their team's final game (so if you play in the national championship on 1/20 then you have until 1/25).

Anyone know when CU starts classes? My guess is before 1/20 so a lot of those playoff guys will be too late for us

Not only that, but runs into his own guys and misses the hole.
I stand by what I said. None of the 3 RB's are any better than the other from all the games I watched but I would want them all back if I was CP. If I was grading them out, I'd put Augustave as most likely to fall forward for positive yardage, Hayden as the best receiver out of the backfield, and Welch as the combo of each player. I can't recall who would be the best pass blocker of the bunch. Which is a good thing. I don't remember RB's missing blocks too often. Welch is probably the slowest.

Also, if a coach leaves or gets fired then their players have 30 days to enter the portal
