2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

Again...I will tell you...I'm correct...and you won't find any research telling you otherwise...so you can laugh, or you can get good information.

The ONLY time an athlete will experience anything close to 20 lbs of lean mass gain in a year is if they are completely new to lifting.

I'm challenging you...bring anything to this thread that supports your antiquated and wildly inaccurate views on weight training.

45 lbs of weight gain in 1 year....and he looks pretty lean to me.

Wasn't this all in reference to Carde Smith? You think that dude can't put on weight?!?! Come on Medford, open your eyes dude.

I've gotta ask, is anyone else underwhelmed with this portal period so far or is it just me? Seems like the talent level we are bringing in (with some notable exceptions) is below the level both expected and Indicated by Prime. I know he said about some of the players are in the playoffs, but i dunno. just feels suboptimal so far. Obviously there is time to improve the class and it would only take a couple of players here and there, but yeah

The nature of the portal these days is throwing everything off. Many players are playing wait and see. My son knows players at Illinois and Utah State who are trying to decide what to do and their heads are absolutely swimming having to analyze what their coaches are telling/projecting for them next year, the numbers/quality of players at their same position in the portal that they are up against, what other schools are telling them, what their family is telling them, what deals they might get, getting ready for bowl games, etc.

I think once games are done, the portal will absolutely explode again with some incredible talent.

Our RB room is fine unless we are looking for a pass catching type who is a natural as a 3rd down back. I'm fine with running out there what we have instead of going to the Portal for an unknown who then creates a ripple effect where the known leaves.... but if Hayden leaves then I get we need to find someone.

I don't see a reason he stays, he will be the third option. It feels strange because I really like his tape in OSU

I'm happy with what the staff has done so far, but it's not reflected in the rankings. For example, the ratings for Williams and Byard are a joke when you compare them to others. If you're looking at the ratings it's going to be underwhelming.

Really? Augustave was okay, Welch is just potential at this point, and Hayden was underwhelming. I haven’t seen Hughes play much, but the numbers say he would be a huuuuge upgrade.

Looking back over the past couple of years we are looking at the same kinds of guys that we have been for the past couple years.

Most of the players, even the top ones in the portal, fit one of two categories. They are either highly rated guys who are stuck behind somebody at a P4 school or guys at G5 schools who turned out to be much better players than expected coming out of high school.

If you have guys who are already performing at a top level at P4 schools then unless they have a problem with the coach or the school they aren't going into the portal.

The difference this year may be a combination of us just expecting Prime to pull off spectacular things and our roster having improved so much the past couple years that we are no longer thinking almost anyone would be an improvement. Huge difference between we need bodies and wondering if someone would be an improvement.

We have had some significant success in the portal the last couple years but don't forget about the long list of guys who never made a significant contribution.

You can't line up stats like this. None of our guys got close to 100 carries let alone over 200, so who knows what number they might have put up in the same type of season. Plus, it was against AAC competition so there's that.

FWIW, I'd take Hughes for Hayden.
