When you look at the map of where people care most about college football, and where recruits come from, CU is very unlikely to get a B!G offer. As we travel east past the Mississippi and South towards dixie the odds improve markedly.yes, this is the conclusion i have also reached. unless by some miracle, the big 10 decides at this time that it only wants to expand a little and they take CU and another school to get to 16.
puff.puff. pass.
Go Buffs!
Agree 100%.
And..... I believe big time college football is losing its way

Dont get me wrong. The Big Ten might *love* to add CU just like we love them. Giddy love. But the people who pay the bills, the parents, in these conferences are the TV people. And their job is to make a market. And theyre not going to add millions in additional annual cost per year on top of what they are already paying unless they get a lot more god damned new eyeballs in return.
As our resident optipesimest I share your pain my brother. I wish it werent this way too.
This move to add UT and Texas Lite (OU) to the SEC is about capturing the Dallas and Houston TV markets for ABC/ESPN. Mercenary ****.
ESPN already owns the whole thing without owning it all. They will dictate to the rest of us who the winner are losers will be wether we like it or not. And I ****ing hate that idea.
Been a slow decline since about 2008 but picking up its pace in the CFP era because that meant CFB is losing what made it unique especially the postseason bowls.
Im watching FCS ball while it is still fresh but they have had the issue of the same teams qualifying for the playoffs year in and out. This was something I knew would be an issue in the FBS CFP right away.
I’m not that excited about the 12 team playoffs because in this spring’s FCS 16 team playoffs, five teams from one conference made the playoffs and that’s almost 1/3 of the field. The SEC will have 4-5 teams in every year if they continue being strong.
I’m talking about the new SEC deal that will pay those teams more than the B1G.I’m not sure how you ask current B1G teams to take a pay cut to take on the likes of Wazzu, CU and Oregon State.
I actually like this, but I would still like to jettison Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, and Washington State. The Big Ten and Conference Realignment: Merging with the Pac-12 Could Make Sense

wish this would happen
CU has the growing Denver and the Mountain Market to continue its expansion, it is an AAU school, and IF you gave CU $100 Million per year to invest and focus on Football, would it and could it make the moves to be a better program? I also would like to see less teams at the top of the food chain, because then assistant coaches and top head coaches could migrate upwards, and in that case, CU could upgrade. When you look at the map of where people care most about college football, and where recruits come from, CU is very unlikely to get a B!G offer. Otherwise, when they say this league covers Los Angeles - Denver - Chicago - Detroit - Cleveland - New York that is a strong statement
You can’t ignore the Phoenix market. More people and a ton more talent than DenverI actually like this, but I would still like to jettison Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, and Washington State.

I'm interested in your opinion of which D1 football schools carries the most impact in NYC.New York. Heh.
Penn state is a huge draw there.I'm interested in your opinion of which D1 football schools carries the most impact in NYC.
I've never lived in or near NYC, but my perception is a ranking something like:
admittedly, this is only based on perception and a maybe a half-dozen sports conversations I've had with New Yorkers (only one of whom GAF about college sports and he was a ND guy).
- Syracuse
- UConn
- Notre Dame
- Army
- Rutgers
- Buffalo
I was wondering about PSU but didn't realize that. I left them off the list because geographically they're so far west of NYC and don't have the religious connection of a ND.Penn state is a huge draw there.
None of the above, really. Though you probably see more Syracuse gear than the others, college football hardly registers for NYC natives. Thus, the transplants just follow the teams they bring with them. The local coverage of college football is basically nonexistent, except for the Friday betting lines in the tabloids.I'm interested in your opinion of which D1 football schools carries the most impact in NYC.

if the Pac holds with the 12 members they have, and the XII leftovers don't get absorbed somewhere else, then I think CSU is back on the table for XII membership. otherwise, they're still a MWC memberwhere does csu fit into all of this? Last I heard the uncle of a ram fan's cousin said the B1G was fixen to offer CSU.
Agree 100%.

I would add from my time living in NJ that hardly anyone there cares as well, there wasn’t a ton of excitement about Rutgers.None of the above, really. SEC gobbling up Clemson, FSU, etc would help pac, no? Nowhere else for Big and Pac to go but join forces.
What’s the official ruling: Are TV markets important or not. We have people espousing their importance and others saying to don’t mean ****.
It would definitely let the big 10 poach schools like Virginia, North Carolina, maybe notre dame and Georgia tech???? But letting the SEC have full control of Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and texas is a disaster for both the big 10 and pac 12 long term.SEC gobbling up Clemson, FSU, etc would help pac, no? I agree in general (CU is 38th most valuable brand). But many on here continue to insist realignment based on TV markets or where people are moving to. I’m guessing that’s not really as important this time. Phoenix may be huge, but how does that matter? Not as important as during the last round as I believe this is more driven by the future rather than the present and other factors (brand recognition, general size of the fanbase) can make up for it.
The way I read the 2025 date from the SEC is that ESPN has no interest in paying out the remainder of the term of their media contract.
