2025 Transfer Portal News & Updates

The big question is who from the Big 12 will be ranked in the preseason top 25 since that is one of the most important determining factors on being in position to have at large bids.

This year, preseason top 25 had Utah, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Kansas and Kansas State.

From that group, I think KSU and maybe KU make it with ASU, ISU, BYU and maybe TTU. I highly doubt CU is included without Shedeur and Travis.
Big 12 has a lot of starting QBs back, including every school you listed above.

Texas tech is reminding me of what we did in the portal last year. We are not doing bad by any means but we aren't first in transfer ranking even by average in the big 12. That' is Texas tech. If we don't see a serious uptick we might even have to do something like (gasp) rely on development of high school players from the last two years
Tech is having a big year in the portal. There are some weird ratings on a few of their prospects, but they're getting some solid line help. They're going to be a team to watch next year.

CU will be rated #25, book it

$4m/year believed to be the market for the top portal QB.

That's what the #12 pick overall makes on an annual basis.

By the second round, it's down to about $2mm/yr. I didn't know that the slope of the rookie pay scale was that steep. No QB should come out who has eligibility and isn't projected to go in the top 15. Levis's fall a couple of years ago cost him about $30mm. Went from being set for life, to being a PAHI poverty QB.

Pay scale is here if anyone is interested: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cba/rookie-scale

Wonder what that pay scale would look like if any player could negotiate his first contract as a free agent and teams had no salary cap.

A CBA is so needed but the blue bloods don’t want that as it will mean real parity, NFL like.

KST’s star receiver Jayce Brown is playing in their bowl game after entering the portal. The speculation is he is going to return now

I said 10-12...and if you'd actually look up recent research, you'd know I'm right.

Y'all need to get up to date on your understanding of muscle development.

People lifting for the first time might be able the do 2 lbs a month, but no FBS football player is new to lifting, and their muscles should be adapted to the strain of weight training, which will slow down gains.

Again...I will tell you...I'm correct...and you won't find any research telling you otherwise...so you can laugh, or you can get good information.

The ONLY time an athlete will experience anything close to 20 lbs of lean mass gain in a year is if they are completely new to lifting.

I'm challenging you...bring anything to this thread that supports your antiquated and wildly inaccurate views on weight training.

Still in denial and digging the hole, but at least you conceded there are *some* instances where gaining more than 8 lbs in a year is doable lol

In a complete surprise to (no one at all), the example you provided is pretty in-line with what we’ve said all along. Most HS kids (EVEN THOSE PLAYING FOOTBALL) haven’t been in any form of weight or nutrition program and can see massive gains when they start lifting seriously, start a nutrition plan, and experience a major growth spurt resulting in *gasp* more than 8lbs in a year
